Hey guys, I'll eventually take the car in for alignment, but is there an easy way to adjust the camber without having to release the tension from the sway bars?

I have been looking at upgrading my suspension for a while now and have come to the conclusion of installing the PSS9 setup.
I thought maybe someone else out there might be doing the same thing and we can approach someone like Gert at Carnewal to see if we can get a better purchase price.
If anyone is interested let us know. I am off for about a week or so overseas and when I get back I am wanting to do the upgrade.
Regards
Arthur
ps The main reason why I mention Carnewal is due to the fact I am in Oz and I know he ships out this way no other reason. I have also done a quick search to see if someone else has had a group buy on this recently and have found nothing so I do apoligise if I am covering something already done.
I am more than happy to try and make contact with a number of US based suppliers.
Over the last month I have been happily dealing with Justin at Brandywine Porsche. I know they sell the PSS9 kits as well. If anyone else has recommendations for suppliers more than happy to talk to them too.
I have actually had a bad experience with a number of board sponsors, where they refused to even acknowledge an email let alone a request for goods so I have stuck with people that have replied to me and now trust to do the right thing by me.
I guess from the response above we have potentially 8 interested parties. Its a starting point but I guess they will want to know which kits so email me on
[email removed]
your car details and I can pass them onto them so they can quote the kits up. I believe there is a difference between C2, C4 and turbo.
I am on a 0050 flight to China and will take it up on Monday. I will be making contact with Brandywine and Carnewal to begin with tonight to see how interested they are.
Regards
Arthur
20C4S - Is that an offer for the group buy or are you selling a single unit?
I have made contact with both Brandywine as well as Gert at Carnewal. Gert believes he can do better on the X74 rather than the PSS9 so I told him to prepare both prices for the group buy and let each person decide on which setup they want.
I will also make contact with a number of others (thanks for the info Fred). I believe that we should be able to get the price close to the $2000 mark if not less with any luck. It looks there are quite a number of interested parties. If we can get the goods local to the US even better.

Arthur
Im in depending Price...
First of course I need to buy the car, but till Mnoday I should have this issue cleared
Also my car is Euro Spec, are the parts all the same ?
Hi ArthurK..!
Thanks for the reply...! You are all set.. Keep me posted as to how this turns out for you and the folks, OK?
Best to you - and thanks again!
John D.
Sorry I have not kept you upto date with what is going on. I am now back from China and will be chasing the various suppliers for their quotes.
I have only received one quote so far and the public post by 20C4S. I am hopeful it will all fall into place with the pricing. I am still waiting for 2 more quotes to come through. With no disrespect to 20C4S I would like to await for the final quotes before anything is confirmed.

Arthur
hey guys:
Just got this link in the email today. Their price on C4 PSS9 is $1853.41 you can follow this link to check your model. Hope this helps you guys.

Peter
Wow! You are correct Peter. I dropped it in the cart and the 20% off was reflected in the price. This is an awesome price! Do you know how long this sale will be on for?
AC 996C2 I'm in central Jersey too. Who were you gonna have do the install? Body Motion quoted me a price of $3K for it including corner balancing a couple of weeks ago. Thanks
Peter, thanks so much for the heads-up. This is an awesome price!
Pieball, a bunch of friends and I (mostly Audi guys) will be doing the install ourselves. You are welcome to join us if you like. I will then have a shop do the alignment and maybe corner balance as well. I haven't shopped for shops yet.
AC 996C2, B.M. never broke down the price for me but considering the units would sell for $2300-$2400 the balance would be for the install with corners. Still seems a little steep. It's not gonna take them 7 hrs. for that. $1850(group buy) plus $500-$600 would seem more appropriate. I think any good shop you go for is going to charge $200-$300 for the alignment and corner balance and that's going to be close to half of the price of the install. What town would you guys be doing the install?
Ok guys I now have firm prices from Gert as well. Can you all please email me your details relating to the car and location. If we package the product to single destination points we get a further reduction in price over shipping directly to individual people.
The group buy price is under the required break point of $2000US if you are seriously interested please let me know. We need to get 10 units to make it possible for everyone to benefit.
Gert also said that for those who are interested in the X74 kits he will be having a sale of those kits at the end of February for the same price as the PSS-9 kits that he has currently given us.
Regards
Arthur
The price Gert has quoted me is EUR$1550 (US$1930) If we get them shipped in lots rather than individual we can then get the price down to US$1893. In light of what performance products pricing. I was going to go back to Gert and ask him to match it or better it.
As Gert has been a long time sponsor of the board and extremely helpful with this group buy I dont mind paying a small premium to keep the relationship going. If people are not interested please let me know. Either way it makes no difference to me. I am definately interested in purchasing and have no problem in paying Gert at this point in time $100US more. He comes highly recommended by many and I would like to do business with him.
It would be interesting to see how many units can be bulk shipped to further reduce the price. This might impact the pricing even further if we have say three or four shipped to the one location. This information would be extremely helpful in finalising pricing.
Regards
Arthur
Arthur, I don't think the Perf Prod price includes shipping so the difference from Gert's pricing will be closer. I will most likely get more stuff from Gert so I will probably go with him even if his price is slightly higher.
AC996,
Good to see I am not the only one who feels that way
I have asked Gert a number of questions in the past, never actually purchased anything and has always come through with the answers. He is a good source of info and never hesitates in helping out.
So does that mean we have two sets so far
?
The list is as follows:
ArthurK 02 996 C2 Cab
AC996 99 996 C2 ??
We are 10% there nearly 20%
Regards
Arthur
ps at least you are buying in USD unlike myself in AUD at $1.64 for every euro
Pieball, we're doing the install in Princeton. No date yet but definitely before April.
Arthur, I'm in. I do hope we get to 10 before the 15th, otherwise, I will have to get them from Perf Prod.
Arthur:
Count me in. This board has help me number of times, and buying from a dealer that supports this board is in my interest as well.
I have e-mailed gert regarding other items and he has always been generous to return my email with info I request w/ no pressures.
Can you ask him what the price is to include the gt3 sway bars front and back w/ C4 drop links?
Peter
Count me in guys - '99 C4 ....
If there are others in the Chicago area the jump in on this I have no problems having mine shipped to Chicago (only an hour and change away from here)....
trevor
glad u have thinking like this Arthur. we need more customer like u. it's fair for people to shop around, but if u can find a place to trust i think it's more important. at the end, we do need to make reasonable money for us to survive. i second Gert is the best source to get the euro setup because the time & effort he's put in he deserve to make a little more.
Guys,
I thought I better make sure that the price was valid for the C4 kit as well but unfortunately it is more expensive at EUR$1675.00 (US$2100) shipped. Im sorry for the confussion and getting the hopes up for all C4 owners.
At the same time I made an error in reporting that the X74 kit will be the same price as the PSS9 kit. It should have read it will be on special at the end of the moth rather than the same price as the group buy.
I am truelly sorry about the mix up

Please let me know sooner rather than later as we want to process no later than the 12th of February so people dont miss out on the Performance Product special if the group buy is unsuccessful.

hey guys...
since i have a C4 I'm gonna try to get the 20% off at perf. products - if not then I'm in on the group buy. I'll know on Monday I hope.....

gert is a GREAT vendor from whom i have bought (too) much stuff including my last set of coilovers (PSS9s this time). very hard to go wrong doing business with him as he always meets or exceeds your expectations for quality, speed and service.
*everyone* here has always said what a super cool cat gert is.... i will have to think about this the next day or so... after all it's only a couple hundo difference... which is worht to ensure you get the right stuff, on time, in good shape and support a cat who does good work..... god knows how many times i've waited too long to get the wrong stuff from some idiot who's price was too good to be true....
hmmmmmmm.......
trev
I have purchased from Gert before, he is a straight shooter, and a great resource. But isn't there a warranty problem with non-US sourced Bilstein coilovers? They have a lifetime warranty if purchased in the US, and supposedly no warranty support if purchased abroad. There were some threads on this some time ago, I would check into it first. I may be wrong.
Ok today is the 11th (for me it is
)and need confirmation of the list. So far I have confirmed officially the following:
AC996
ArthurK
Yet to officially confirm are:
Conrado - Gert accepts payment methods other than Credit Card - see PM
DougH
Mastermind
I really would like to let Gert know one way or another if the Goup Buy is going ahead in some shape or form. I think I owe him that much at least.
Regards
Arthur
i think that is the case re: warranty with gert. however, i've yet to hear of a problem with any of his coilovers. also, i'm sure he'd take care of it if you sent it back to him. lastly, most of the cost of breakdown is in the labor for removal and replacement (possible alignment and corner balancing) which i don't think is covered by US PSS9s either.
Unfortunately with the sale that Performance Product was running at the same time, the Group Buy from Gert fell through. Therefore we did not proceed with the GB purchase.
I ended up purchasing through Gert in the end as I knew I was going to get the right product and on time. I was getting different stories from different suppliers in the States and was not willing to risk it by saving a couple hundred dollars overall. At the same time Gert did take care of me with this purchase, in the same way he takes care all rennlist forum users.
Sorry to keep you hanging. Believe it or not, my dealer did not know what I was talking about when I asked if they would/could install PSS9s for me. I would like to find someone locally that has a clue about the product and the install so I could at least get an estimate of the cost and feel reasonably confident they know what they are doing.
What was your install cost. Is it springs and shocks?
Doug,
The install cost me AUD$1000.00 including the installation, alignment and corner balance. The shop did have my car for a good portion of 2 days. The corner balance, I believe, takes a while to get right. If the shop you are talking to is not aware of what a PSS-9 setup is then run the other way. I would not want someone experimenting on my car if they are not familiar with the product or the way to install it.
If people are still interested in the Group Buy I am more than happy to run with it even though I have now bought mine from Gert. I just need to make sure people are willing to commit. The main reason why I did buy from Gert was the fact he KNOWS the product and he will provide you with the right goods. Also I feel guilty that the group buy didn't occur after all the effort Gert put in getting the great price.
If people are still interested let me know. Post the event I am assuming that at least three people are still interested as I have had PMs about the topic.
Regards
Arthur
The people interested I assume are Doug, Mteran and one other that slips my memory at the moment but I still have their email address.
I would probably be interested. any chance in getting the rate any lower by volume or is that about it? It's still much better than PP right now, but I believe they had a pretty nice discount before??? thanks.
SPR, the normal price is EUR$1950. PP did have a great sale on and thats what killed the group buy off. In order to get the EUR$1550 price 10 units are required.
I got mine from PP for $1,853.41 plus $36.65 s&h to NJ. They had a special for a limited time. Thanks to PeterC4C, who learned about it via email, for advising the board. IIRC, the special ended on 2/12.
hey arthurK between the h&r pss-9 coilovers which one has the most drop height? Also Im still interested in buying will gert give the same price?
Thanks
mteran, I believe that the h&r's will drop the car further. At the same time how far do you wish to drop the car is the real question? I will approach Gert once we have adequate numbers. I am certain he will come to the party as we always does.
I just ordered 19 HRe's and I would like to close the gap plus cover most of the tire. I dont know the exact height but I ll go measure in little bit. Also on the pss9's iss the ride quality adjustable? (smoothness/harshness)
thanks again
Can we please have a show of hands who is currently interested in the PSS9s. I will once again approach Gert with numbers and see what he comes back with. So far we have:
mteran
The sooner the better for you guys. I currently have mine installed and breaking them in
Since PP would not even respond to me regarding the PSS9's being on sale count me in as well - I'm still looking.
Trevor - '99 C4 (so I need the slightly more expensive C4 version)
best,
trev
The last time I checked with Gert it was EUR$1550.00 I dont know if he will confirm it this time round. I need to talk to him after we have confirmed numbers. The aim will be to get it under US$2000.00 to your door.
most probably, the only issue is what valving they will have and which run they are the 1st ones, or the second ones with the revisions without problems etc., and warranty is somewhat a sub issue.
is there a differance between gert's and fvd? or fvr, the people in florida. I was reading somewhere that he has a special, also they are revalved or something. I have emailed him and PM too, but no response on my questions.... oh well
I believe there are two flavours. The standard Bilstein set and then the "modified" sets like FVD, Ruf, etc. Also I have seen some of the "modified" kits without the helper springs in the set. I cannot remember if it were the fronts or the rears. But then again I could be totally wrong.
I am sure each provider will say theirs is better
Personally I wouldnt have a clue. The PSS9 is overkill for my needs so the others would be even more if they are better.
thanks, do they squeak? other than that im ready to buy.... i would like to have them with in 2months or so. im bulding a new garage and until then she is staying stock.=)
thanks for your help.
Do they squeak? The pss9s? No they are fantastic. The car is more precise in its movement and cornering is a dream with minimal body roll. At this point in time I cannot fault them
mteran,
If I can get confirmation from everyone I will call Gert up and find out. I have one more person to add to the list. So it could be 5 people.
For the final call who is DEFINATELY interested and wanting to buy the PSS9 setup ?
If you are interested then please put your hand up and the model of your car ie 99 C2 or 03 C4 so we know exactly what kits I need to get prices for.
Ok people with the confirmed numbers of:
Mteran '99 C2
Ak808 '99 C2
C2Blk '02 C2
Matermind '99 C4
and hopefully
SPR '99 C2
We can get the kits from Gert for $1550 Euro - at todays conversion it comes to US$1886 shipped to your door. Mastermind I am waiting for a C4 price for you.
Please let me know if you are in so I can inform Gert please
Hey I am in, just let me know when and how to pay gert. I shot both you emails to that effect already btw. Also the Performance products deal is long since dead. Arthur K your pm box is full clean it!!! and hit me up asap and or tell gert so I can pay him and get it out here!
Also does anyone know a good palce to corner balance my car in LA/Valley area? I am going to put them in myself but want it corner balanced afterward- thanks sean
no no no, i just got the email from them this afternoon! the prices are good until they sell out of their inventory.
check the link
performance products Pss9 blowout sale, 1695.00 for a 996 C2
.
their previous sale price was 1895
didn't really go through the entire thread, but why are u guys still buying the Euro one if u're in US.
knowing that Arthur u're in Australia, better tell the GB people there is a US version being sold here in the states.
20C4s,
I have no vested interest in this GB. If anytihng I have started it again after it failed the first time due to people asking me if it was still on. Throughout the whole thread, there is mention to the US vs Euro model. Me being in Australia has nothing to do with it. There is an Australian model too. I bought my setup in February (EU$1720) and is already installed. If people are not interested then all they need to do is not purchase. I am not trying to mislead people in any shape or form. When Performance Products had the sale last time we all said its not worth it and should purchase through them and all people did. If the sale this time is legit then people should buy through PP again, but from reading above it doesnt look like it any more.
no worry Arthur. this is exactly my point
just want to make sure people here (US) know there is a US version. it's not ur responsibility to tell the difference (since u are not here) between the kit & i've never ever doubt Gert's product & service.
i talked to PP not long ago & their sales make me worry a bit. the C2 kit is 1,695 but the TT kit is 2,800. this sounds not right to me since my price for it is only 2,150. they went on & on trying to tell me how different they are between C2 kit & TT kit... well, not a 1,105 difference for sure!
20C4S what is the major difference between the Euro version and US version.
Seems like many ppl on this board have bought from Gert previously without any issues.
Also, i talked to performance before and i highly doubt the $1695 price. The guy there told me that last time they sold for $1875 was a mistake. And the the person taking order actually took another 20% off of the reduced price. In fact, he said at $1875 it was below their cost. So how could they now sell it at $1,675. Unless they just wanted to get rid of the one set that they said they had for the C2. So i really doubt the $1695 price is realistic for most of us.
Anyways, if you could elaborate on diff btw euro and US really appreciate it.
no the price was ligit and it was a blow out of the stock for c2's. They are gone, but the guy did say they were the newer ones but they only had a couple or something. I waited on hold for like 20 min. someone else came on and said yup there out. what a waste of phone time!
Gert's stuff is 100% no problem. the difference between US & Euro one is the spring rate & valving differences. also seems like the noise problem people had with the Euro has been fix on the US. plus US has lifetime warrenty. however, i took my time to look both set up i could not tell the difference.
here is the funny thing. lots shops out there are bs lots stuff. i'm not saying that i know everything but i'm willing to learn & care about the detail. i just think PP mass up the pricing. how can they sell C2 for 1,695 & Turbo for 2,800. the price between them is only 100 my price.
When I get a chance I will speak to Gert to expect your emails/phone calls regarding the purchase of the goods (I suspect he wont be up just yet). He will take excellent care of you like he has me and many others in the past. I am glad we can finally put this thread to rest
Damn should have held out to get mine now
Oh well you win some and then you lose some too.
The people who will be purchasing are as follows:
C2Blk
Ak808
Mteran
Mastermind
SPR
If this is not correct just let me know
They said that they would not honor the price because it was a blow out of current inventory that's what will be seen sorry. I am sure they will not honor that price
[email removed]
, how will we pay?
also, what kind of squeaking sound for the euro's? and the spirngs are different, do you know how low they will go?
thanks
Mteran,
The difference between the euro vs the us ones is in the warranty and nothing else, from what I have been lead to believe. My car has not shown any squeaking or faults since they have been on. If anything they are just a dream to drive the car more now. Don't feel like you need to purchase if you have reservations. I was in a similar boat when I was buying but the problem I faced was the fact most US resellers were telling me that there is a difference for RHD vs LHD or that the helper springs are sold separately or the main spring is not part of the kit. Gert gave me straight answers and felt more confident to do a long distance transaction.
Hi guys,
I just gave Gert my billing information. He is just now waiting for everyone else on the group buy list to email him the information before he will give us the price and sent out PSS9.
If we all get it in today, maybe we can get it shipped out today his time and get it early next week :P
Hey Arthur thanks again for all your efforts, especially after the fact that you already got yours :P
Seems like two of us already gave Gert billing info, he's just waiting for rest.
Final price is $1,550 Euro, which is $1,886 US at today's exchange rate. If anyone else is interested, simply go to link below, enter billing info. And copy/past the group order deal in the comments field: The group order price is 1550 Euro shipping to the US included. This is for C2.
http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_order.htm
Arthur, thanks for putting this group deal together! I've just submitted my payment info as well.
Anybody interested in a used USA M030 with approx. 28K miles of use? ;-)
Hey guys, what's the next group deal we plan to do? This board is evil. :-)
-Art
Art,
Evil is an understatement. Before I first registered on this site I had a vanilla 996. In the space of 4 months my car is no longer vanilla (see sig). But then again, it makes for an interesting ride down here in Australia. Hardly any PSE cars on the road other than users of this forum. Evil and hard on the hip pocket - but as I say You only live once and you cant take it with you! Life is too short so enjoy!
Tomorrow I am going in to drive a car with a SSK, that will be my next change if I like the drive. If I was daring enough I would do a super charger but the extended warranty is in place and it might be an issue with any RMS issues.
BTW well done in ordering two down and three to go!
Sorry to join this party in the 11th hour... I miss just a few days on Rennlist and all this action nearly escaped me.
Questions:
Is there still time to get added to the group purchase?
Does the deal cover the C4 version of PSS9 (usually a different price)?
If the answers to both are yes, then I'm definitely in and need instructions on how to jump on board! TIA
I got an update from Gert last night, four ppl have already signed up we just need one more to get discount price.

Fill in billing info and in comment field put: Part of group order for PSS9 for price of1550 Euro shipping to the US included.
For C4 it's a little more, but you can confirm with Gert who will get back to you right away. Gert will not charge your card until we have confirmed the discount price.

Thanks
By the way, C4 is $1,590 Euro slightly higher, but confirm that price with Gert. It is part of the group buy, and we just started giving Gert our information last night so you are more than welcomed to join.
I think the last person in the buy group that has yet to order is getting a C4 kit as well.
i did mine at 4:00 am last night. i was wondering if gert could give an email confermation, just to make sure i did it right.
on the more group buy issue, these are my next purchases; steeringwheel(i think gambella has a nice new one), wheels(hre), or bigred setup.
also what is PSE or something.
thanks
I'm pretty sure it was just minimum of 5 to get the discount. Maybe if we get more ppl Gert will give us more discount :P Probably not, but yeah I don't think there is limit.
So looks like we are there, its a go with 5 now. Exchange rate has actually gone in our favor, at this rate when we get charged on Monday, it might even be $1850 US
So do we know if five people have signed up as yet? Out of the original people it looks like:
c2blk
ak808
spr
mteran
Have signed up and newbie ervtx has too, making it 5 people. So it is a goer then??
I just got an email from Gert, we got our five ppl and he has put in order to bilstein, so maybe he didn't have enough in stock.
I asked him if he would take others, but didnt get a reply yet, will update when i do.
Have a question for US ppl that have bought from carnewal from past.
Is there any other taxes that we will be responsible for, Kirby found something on their website.
"If applicable, other charges such as brokerage, import duty and local taxes are the responsibility of the buyer."
And if so what percentage is that usually for lets say California.
Thanks
Kirby,
Have you had any issues with the GT3 front spoiler and no rear spoiler that you can notice? I know it isnt recommended but then again I am no F1 driver and dont track the car.
Arthur,
I've taken the car about 136mph and really didn't notice any difference. I took the car the same speed on the same road before I did any mods and it felt the same. Like you Arthur, I am no F1 Driver so there might be some difference, but to an average Joe Driver like me it felt fine.
I'm worried about lowering the car a little because I've already scraped the lip a few times. If I lower it I know I'm going to have to be more careful and get used to it.
Sorry, I was the one that snagged the last PSS9 for the C2 from Performance Products. I called as soon as the sale came up on my e-mail about 12:30pm local. The price was $1695, total $1,849.84 with tax and shipping. They arrived today, the day after ordering. Look to be in good shape although the Box is fairly battered and had been opened before. Any recommendations on a good installer?
Kirby,
136 mph, I would get locked up! Apart from that lose my license for 12 months. The fastest I have gone on a public road is only 140km/h even that qualifies for instant loss of license for 1 month.
Good to know Kirby. I love that spoiler on your car and I think it would look great on my cab too. It will give it that aggression it requires.
arthur, does the engine guard help?( metal plate for underneath). I saw it on gert's site, and probably would like to add it to my order, if it protects from bumping.?
mteran, no idea. I have not installed it on my car. At the same time though I have only lowered the car by 20mm all the way around. I am thinking of dropping it another 5-10mm and will consider it. At the same time though how much protection will it be I wonder?
Did you check out the video?
It sounds awful, but since the video was taken with the car on jack stands, I couldn't help wondering whether or not this guy had the same result with the full weight of the car on the suspension. Certainly he confirmed the problem with a road test, right?!
Looks like the front right side of a C4S. Anybody have other info on the puported problem? I'm going to put the PSS-9's on an '02 C4, so hopefully it's limited to AWD for certain model years, or widebodies only, or something like that?
interesting it seems that those tender springs are not even working right as they are completely compressed. I wonder if they are the wrong ones or something. I have put a set of pss9's on my dad's 993tt and the tender springs didn't compress that much!!! Maybe the top spring is not seated right in the mount, and or the separator is off dunno but looked weird!
Got this email from Gert, group buy is still on just delayed:
I just wanted to give you a little update on the status of the group order;
We ordered all the PSS-9 kits at Bilstein .
Apart from the group buy, we also ordered a lot of kits that we are going to take in stock.
Therefore, it took a while before the order at Bilstein was processed and they could ship these out.
The PSS-9 kits are now being trucked to Belgium.
Another delay is the upcoming Eastern weekend which for European companies (except Carnewal) means that they are 100% closed on Friday (tomorrow) and on Monday. In other words, they closed since this afternoon till Tuesday morning.
We expect the kits by mid next week.
As soon as we receive the kits they will be shipped out to the US.
Thanks a lot and I appreciate the patience.
yeah i got the email as well. I am pretty bumed as I am on spring break and really wanted to have them in before it ended. Now I will not be able to do them until after finals even though I will have them etc.
For all the PSS9 group buy people, was wondering what you guys plan on doing in regards to the ride height and also shock setting when you first install.
I am not sure whether to set ride height slightly higher than GT3 since i'm in LA, so was thinking about 26 inches.
Also Gert suggested that shock setting of 7/8 is equivalent to X74. I was thinking of starting at 4/5, but may go higher/softer given this recommendation by Gert.
What are you guys planning on?
Thanks
wow 7/8 is x74? I heard that you had to get 3/4 for that? either way. I am going to set mine at gt3 settings, since I am going to initially set it up I am going to set it at the lowest gt3 setting and see how bad that is then go from there. I will be doing a rough alignment as I have the acu guage for the camber and setting it all at gt3 spec, although depending on which has more toe for the front, regular m030 spec or gt3 I will use the greater of the two as I have 8.5" fronts and they really like to hunt at zero right now, it's plain evil!
I will take some pics of the diferent heights for comparisons if I remember to bring my cannon, which I should as well as use a micrometer and count the threads on the collars for you guys as well just for the hell of it.
I was thinking about staying above the GT3 height as well and going with 6/6 for the following reasons:
My cab has the aero kit all around, and I want to be initially cautious with the front end clearance. I also frequently switch between hard-top and soft-top, and have a passenger with me about 20% of the time (total weight is fairly variable). The C4 is heavier up front than a C2 and it seems like my car's most significant suspension issue is compression/rebound in the front under hard braking and acceleration (i.e. I'm happy with current understeer/oversteer and simply want to remain neutral on that). Last but not least, the wife likes her turn at the wheel once in a while. Since she thinks the ride is stiff enough already (of course), I don't want to "shock" her right off the bat.
I haven't heard much on considerations for an AWD Cab, so if anybody has thoughts on these settings, please pass them on.
same here. fed ex called today and I had to recieve and fill out a fax for the importing duty I would assume. Make sure you do it so it doesn't hold up the shipment -
I just tracked mine and noticed they arrived at my studio today and one of the other guys signed for them - I am currently up in London, Ontario visiting the parental units and doing a bit of work.
AHHHHHHHHH..... I have PSS-9's.... must get home now !!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!!
Looks like I also escaped paying import duty since, well, I have the things and was never charged duty.
I am amazed they showed up as soon as they did. Did any of you notice Gert sent them FedEx international
priority
as opposed to international economy?
Gert.... you ****ing rock! You absolutely will get more of my biz.....
best,
trevor
OH MY GOD! Miami office just called telling they arrived there! Im in Brazil, but should be travelling there next month and will take bring them with me and my wife... oh I cant wait to install them!!!!!
Gert was great, and mine was scheduled for delivery on Monday, but showed up today, fantastic!!! Also no importing fee was charged (yet)
I recieved my PSS9 today too, anybody planning on installing by themselves? Also, did anybody get the coilover height adjustment wrench with their kits, because my kit did not come with the tool so I was wondering it this wrench should be included or not.
thanks
mine didn't to come with adjustment wrench either. Got it installed, luckily the installer had a set... Will post pics later, started at 6/6, seems a bit soft after driving it a little.. But so far every happy, ride quality excellent, and car feels entirely different with lower stance..
nice, I get mine on mon, but won't have them installed until after finals. I think i have an additional set of the wrenches from the 993tt pss9's I put in.
C2blk,
Would love to hear what you settle on with the settings and height. I am thinking of dropping mine anything from 5-10mm more all the way round. I also have mine set to 3/4 and is perfect on near perfect roads but can get a bit rough on bad roads. At the same time it sometimes feels as if the car is on three wheels when the incline is too sharp on entry. I know it is only a feeling but it shows you how stiff the car is now.
Also I didnt get the wrench either.
I can't believe you guys are getting them so quickly once shipped!!
I'm at Rennsport Renuion II this weekend, and then traveling for work thru next Sat. Can't stand the thought of them showing up and just sitting there while I'm gone. Delayed gratification for me, I guess.
I plan on the self install... done suspension work on many other cars - don't think this will be too different.
Also plan on doing the initial camber/caster/toe adjustment myself (have had a camber gauge for years.. it will be fun to break it out again). Toe is easily enough done with some string and plumbs.......
Of course if I can't get the alignment happening on my own I'll cry uncle and have a pro do it....

Ok here are some pictures of before and after. But I also need some advice. Forgive the dirty car, didn't have time to wash.
Ride height right now is 25 7/8 all around, but seems like to me the front looks too high. What do you think? Should I lower the front 1/4 or 1/2? Will lowering 1/4 make much a difference? Do many people have the front lower by 1/2 inch as compared to rear, or is that a strange set up? Should i drop the rear more too?
Also i'm not good at taking pics, for some reason, car looks much lower in person than on pic. Or maybe i just need to get a GT3 front spoiler
Had PSS9 for a day, love it so far. Shocks at 6/6, cus i was concerned about ride comfort. But already realize that's too soft, will move it to the 4/5 that many suggest. At 6/6 and current ride height it handles much better but doesn't give up any ride comfort as compared to stock.
I couldn't get the pictures size small enough, sorry, so put on link below, requries signing up, sorry if its a hassle.

Thanks for the help
Oscar
Here are my pics:
Ride height is slightly less than 25 1/4" front & 25 1/2" rear. The dials are set to 2/3 which is "okay" for NJ roads. I'll find out how they fare at the track this Saturday.
In case anyone is interested, here are my aligment settings:
Front camber: -1.4 - This was the maximum negative camber possible.
Front toe: 0
Caster: Did you know that this is fixed at 8?
Rear camber: -1.1
Rear toe: -3/32"
I just went down to get the measurements... 24-1/4" front and 24-3/4" rear. Set at 3/4, it rides noticeably firmer than my US M030s. I can hardly wait to see how it does at the next PCA Autox!
Hey guys, I'll eventually take the car in for alignment, but is there an easy way to adjust the camber without having to release the tension from the sway bars?
Thanks!
Art
you set your camber pretty strangly I would assume with those settings you are used to driving a front engine car and refuse to learn proper rear engine driving technique. I just had mine installed. -1fL -1.1fR, -1.8rL, -1.9rR. The differences by .1 are compensated by me sitting in the car and all aligment was done at 1/2 tank. Out of curiousity I have my gt3 bars in and have everything set in the middle (sort of) to get used to it and then tune from there. I think the front is at 3 and rear at one 2 for the bars. I have my pss9's set at 5/4? I think and it seems a bit underdamped over big bumps in normal driving. I am going to fiddle with the settings a bit after my 2.5h canyon drive.
SPR, I'm assuming your post was meant for me so here is my response. Those settings were recommended by the shop who did the install. They race 996 Cup cars. I originally wanted -2.5 camber front and rear but couldn't get that much with our cars. I'm curious when you say "...learn proper rear engine driving technique." What is this proper technique and how does more neg. camber in the rear than in front help this?
The car feels great by the way in this configuration. It no longer pushes and is very, very neutral.
cool. No I just meant that you might have been trying to get so much front camber in an effort to drive the car like some do ala trail braking which is a front engine technique- How much tire wear do you end up getting on the street though?
It's primarily my track car so I was going for more aggressive settings. With the current set-up, tire wear on the street has been very good. Actually, neg. camber in the rear is now less than it was before.
Funny you mention trail braking. Randy Pobst (former Porsche factory-driver now with Audi) drove my car at a DE earlier this year with the stock non-sport suspension and alignment:0 camber front and -1.5 rear. He commented that my car pushed really bad and recommended I trail-brake deeper into the corner to get the fronts to bite.
Ive purchased the PSS9 from Gert but I wont be installing them because I might trade my car for a GT3 2001. Anyone interested in my set ? (For 996 C2)
Regards,
Conrado
Been following this thread. Sounds like everyone is really happy with this setup. Is it possible to adjust these so that it feels like the stock ride. I had non adj coilover in my BMW and the wife hated them. I'm trying to sell her on the adj ones for our 996. Will the softer settings be similar or even softer than stock? I'm really just trying to lower the car and maintain a stock ride quality.
deputydog95, I think you can get it very close to stock settings. I have mine set to 2 / 3 and it is very "streetable." In fact, I wish it were stiffer for the track.
my last set of coilovers were very harsh over bumps. can you set it to feel almost as plush or the same as the stock settings? my wife is really particular when it comes to ride quality. if it bounces or jolts, it's gonna get unisntalled
what was the final price most of you paid on the group buy?
My installer had it set to 6 / 6 and I would describe the ride as "plush" where it absorbed the bumps like stock but it also eliminated most of the body roll. I don't know how sensitive your wife is but I think you will both be happy with the PSS9's.
I paid $1,896.91 plus $49 customs duties.
