Suggestion
I have since made it a habit to check the gas gauge after each "fill up".

I have an '04 C4S and find that it's difficult for the gas station attendants in NJ (only full serve) to fill the tank.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I have an '04 C4S and find that it's difficult for the gas station attendants in NJ (only full serve) to fill the tank. It seems that the gas pump shuts off every couple of seconds. They can't quite seem to get it going (MOBIL - if this makes any difference). Any suggestions?
Thank you.
I had that problem too before but it went away when I fill up having the nozzle inserted with the handle parallel to the ground (with the hose pointing towards the rear end of the car). It worked for me so you might want to give that a try.
I also have this problem. I fill up at Chevron stations so I don't think that it's specific to any one gas company. There's another post regarding gas gauge and Loren put out a TSB (#1/042066). I am planning to check with my service manager soon. For some reason, this problem went away for me. I have since made it a habit to check the gas gauge after each "fill up".
I have that problem too, Shell, i just take the nozzle one notch out but i never let it fill up all the way cause i have a feeling by pulling it out one notch impears the pumps ability to stop when the tank gets full. So I stop when I see the liter reading. I always fill up with and near empty tank so i've gotten good at it.
If you wait until it is really low, the air pressure bilt up inside kicks back the auto shut off feature on the pump. If you don't push the nozzle all the way in and leave it half way it fills up fine. I had that problem on my 02 C2 Cab as well as my Mercedes CL500...
i used to have that problem occassionally when i first got my car, but i haven't had it in a while. i did notice that it was worse when the passenger side of the car was higher than the driver's side.
