Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'm looking to buy a 996/997 as a daily driver. As I drive 100 miles/day rt to work, I was wondering if there are any Rennlisters with more than 50K on their 996 odometers. How has the car performed? What is the overall maintenance? I spent the weekend reading through old Excellence and Panorama articles regarding longevity, but was unable to find any 2000/2001 996s with greater than 35K miles... I drive that distance in one year! Considering that my one year old BMW 325Ci has 36,000 miles and has been trouble free, I would like to hear that the 996 will be the same.
BTW- really love the C4S and hope to get positive feedback so I can order one immediately!
Thanks,
-Blake
9 months and 20K trouble-free miles on my C4S. Time for you to drop the hammer

my c4s has been flawless for 33,500 miles in less than 2 yrs. no unscheduled service. i have followed the factory recommendation for oil changes at 15k mi with mobil 1. i have added only 1/2 quart each time at about 12k mi. the oil remains clear until the scheduled oil change.
in short, my c4s has been perfect! it is the best daily driver ever-as reliable as my old lexus ls 400 sedan but a heck of a lot more fun now that i don't need the rear seat too much any more.
get you c4s--your won't regret it!
I have 35K on my 4 season 996 C2 cab. So far, all good.
Work to date: RMS, front struts, cab top gasket and motor, some minor tightening and the usual need for fluids. All under warranty (other than the fluids, of course)
Had a '99 C2 cab that was a daily driver and had 50k mi. when I traded it in after 3yrs for an '02 cab. which now has 38k mi. Never any problems with either car on the road although I do admit I don't take it out when the snow is really bad That shouldn't be an issue with a C4.
i 've got 58k miles now and would say the 996 makes a great daily-driver. i'm averaging 3k miles a month on fwy and secondary roads. i have had one major failure, but the same problems seem to occur on a low mileage car. i guess it boils down to whether you're considering a new or used 996 and all the caveats relative to high repair costs on an out-of-warranty car.
