Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all Ok as i posted last week, i bought a new 2004 911 c2, now my question is what wheels should i take from the dealer I can get 18 Turbo look 2,.....or the new 5 spoke light alloys. The car is artic silver. I love both wheels but i just cant deside any help?? Please i need input.

POST 2Original post

I like the look of the 5 spoke (lightweight) on the silver cars. Alternatively, you may want to consider working out a deal with them for some aftermarket wheels like BBS, SSR, etc.

POST 3Original post

Are the 5 spoke really lighter. If so, bu how much.

POST 5Original post

My only suggestion would be to get "silvery" colored wheels as opposed to bright chrome or black. Then the color would come close to matching your exterior color and would look like part of the total look and not stick out. JMHO

POST 7Original post

Personally, I think the turbo-look wheels are best left to the widebody cars. Also, the 5-spokes make the C2 look more agressive IMO.

POST 8Original post

Thanks for the response. That is pretty signficant difference is it not.

POST 9Original post

It is a significant difference. I went from SportDesigns to the lighweight 5-spokes, with the same tires, and the car felt very different. Strangely, the ride is much rougher w/the heavier wheels. At first, I thought I had the tires under-inflated w/the 5-spokers.

POST 10Original post

Question about weight... Heaviest are stock 17", then 18" turbo2, then 18" 5spoke ? I like the look of the 18" turbo2 wheels but would only get them if the weight is less than the stock 17. If they are about the same I might as well go with the 5 spoke, which I like too, but show a little too much of the disc brakes.

POST 11Original post

Less moving mass, less rebound and tire stays on ground longer when hitting bumps and etc. The reduction in unsprung weight should help accelleration. I see 4.7s in my 996 on the G-Tech. Who knows. Maybe I just got lucky and got a strong motor.

POST 12Original post

Get Volk Racing TE37 wheels. Beat all the factory wheels in lightness. Looks? Well, that's quite subjective, isn't it?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes it is subjective, this is why i want to hear everyones thoughts, As i stated, i like the look of both rims, and really in the end i know i will use these rims for winter tires. I am looking for a set of summer rims and i am sure i will end up with a 19" .With that being said turbo look 2's or 5 spoke light alloys............Still dont know and I pick up the car on Sat..

POST 14Original post

Congratulations on your new ride!! See if you can get some Techos, IMO they are the nicest by far. Plus, they're the newest addition to the line-up. I think it's always nice to have new style rims with a new car. Otherwise, go with the 5 spoke rims/wheels. PS Don't forget the pictures

POST 15Original post

Where are you getting your car from, Pfaff or DFC?

POST 16Original post

if weight is an issue, 19s are heavy--no matter who makes them. they make sense on the tt where guys are fitting 15" front rotors and need the clearance. imo, you'd actually be hurting performance with 19s in favor of looks (if that's the look you like).

POST 17Original post

Personally I love the 5 spokes... As far as weight goes, the Hollow Spoke Turbos are roughly the same weight as the 5 spoke carrera lighweights. So if you like the turbo look, go for those. The Turbo 2's are solid spoke and they are 5lbs heavier per rim. However, the sport technos look pretty bad ***, and you dont see as many of them

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey Alon I bought the car @ Pfaff,Cant wait untill we can all get together and go for a blast.Any Alum Int stuff kicking around you might want to sell??

POST 19Original post

I own both. I'd recomend the five spoke for all of the above reasons and the significant bonus that the five spokes are quite easy to clean and maintain.

POST 20Original post

Amen on the ease of cleaning. I have SSR five spoke also and they are impossible to keep clean and shiny around the rim where the bolts are! The lightweight 5 spoke you can wipe down with a damp rag (after you wax them)!!!!
