Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Question from a new 911 owner with a scratched stock shift **** for a 6 speed. I did search the archives and only found info on tiptronic *****. 1. How do I remove it? I think it's probably easy, but I'd just like to know. 2. Where could I buy a replacement shift **** online? Nobody seems to advertise anything but the optional ones and I've barely seen any on ebay. I like the look/feel of the stock one. Thanks in advance. C.

POST 2Original post

If you search for info in the B&M shifter, I think you'll find more info.

POST 3Original post

Pull up on the edges of the boot, I think there are 6 snap-downs. Than pull straight up on the stick shift. There is a channel at the top that keeps the stick shift cover in place.

POST 4Original post

And it's not particularly easy. At least mine wasn't. I had to pull very hard, I thought I was going to tear the shifter right out.
