Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

the search engine. posting a specific thread is more helpful and responsive--and more friendly

POST 2Original post

It is better to educate them on the search engine unless you think spawning many threads on the same topic over and over again is a good idea. Ever hear the phrase that starts "Teach a man to fish?"

POST 3Original post

Answer questions any way YOU want. The "resource" is ........ us.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

there is no reason to be rude here. rennlist is too valuable a resource to descend to this level.

POST 5Original post

agreed, rennlist is a wonderful source of information and communication. when i was new on here...many times i was referred to a thread. instead of taking an insecure attitude about it and feeling "referred", i instead felt like, dugh, i should have thought of searching first to save those that have been on here for awhile from having to repeat themselves. we should get our feelings off our shirt sleeves sometimes...

POST 7Original post

Would be GREATLY APPRECIATED I'm a relatively new member here and there are times when "old posts" have "newer solutions". BTW Hello Ignacio, I don't know if you recall me from the old c32 forums! (I was fortunate enough to get the 2k2 Targa but decided to keep my c32 as well --could not bear to take that much of a beating on the depreciation)

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

hi lap i do recall you from the old c32 forum. c32 life now lacks a moderator and has become impossible to use. you may recall i traded in my c32 after it threw a rod at 9k mi. i just didn't trust it anymore. i'm finally got a 2002 c4s, the car i should have gotten in the first place. in particular i was annoyed by the intrusive nature of the esp in the c32. psm is much better. i also prefer a stick--unavailable in any amg mercedes. depreciation is a killer in all luxury cars these days.

POST 9Original post

Here are my thoughts: 1. It all starts with posting complete and accurate thread titles. If people take some time with this the searches become much easier to use and more productive. Not like "What do you guys think...?" as a thread title. 2. There are definately times where there are new solutions to old subjects. 3. I think it would be a good idea to have a section for particular mods or fixes that are VERY common. For example, a secition on B&M shifters, clear side markers etc. Each subject could include descriptions, good prices, where to buy, how to install etc.

POST 10Original post

Old posts with old solutions. New posts with newer solutions. Wish I had thought of that, but I'm just a newbie too... hehehe... Regardless, I appreciate all the info posted here...

POST 11Original post

I am a new person to and here is my take on this. I use(d) the search engin and find it useful. But as was stated above "where there are new solutions to old subjects". I found it useful to see the old posts and many times I saw newer info that really helped. For example: look up the hardwiring of a V1/Passport. Everything I saw talked about runnng the power down the A pillar and to the center console etc. I have figured that you can wire to switched power in the overhead light. So new replies are always helpful. Just my .02 worth

POST 12Original post

I think posting a reply suggesting a search on google or whatever is kind of cold in my opinion. Back and forth dialog between Porsche enthusiasts is good! Now if someone could reply to my moonroof aftermarket mod

POST 13Original post

My 2 Cents. Myself being new to Porsche and IT WAS THIS FORUM that helped me make my decision to purchase my new '03 C2 this past Jan. 2nd. I read threads until my eyes were bleeding and I basically quizzed the salesperson until he was on the floor in a fetal position wishing I was gone. There is something to say about the class of people on this forum that matches the class of the vehicle that influenced my decision. I too got a friendly reminder from KWC4S (and I have a long memory :-)) in one of my newbie threads directing to me the search engine for which I am well-aware exists and use heavily. But to add another interesting twist to this thread, my search just did not turn up what I was looking for (even though someone showed me the error of my ways and I was lead to exactly what I was looking for..thanks KWC4S) because I am learning the ropes on the lingo. So in short what I am trying to say is, the influence this forum has on the Porsche community is much more far reaching that most people realize. I was more than happy to have my thread just simply end with a pointer to the info I was looking for so thanks KWC4S. Because I am new to this community, if I see other newbies starting where I am, I will be thrilled just to contribute to the cause to keep this tradition alive. Plus, I want to hold the record for the most number of KWC4S mentions..so what is that KWC4S, 5? Once again..thanks guys!
