Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone here former owners of Porsche cabriolets who now own coupes? I'm thinking of getting out of my Boxster S into a TT, but can't go as high as the TTcab is at the moment, plus I think I'd rather have the coupe version of the TT - it's that 'classic' thing... Anyone who has gone from cab to coupe - do you miss the open top? I LOVE the Boxster S and drive with the top down all the time (I'm in S. Cal). If I give up the Boxster S for the TT, I know I'll have WAY more fun in the car, with the exception of the top... Help!?

POST 2Original post

Go Coupe. Sun roof is all the breeze you need. Too much SoCal sun is bad for your skin anyway!

POST 3Original post

I agree Convertibles are for women for guys to look at, they are also for hairdressers for g#ys to look at. Donny J

POST 4Original post

Targa, 78, to C4 coupe.... Would go directly back to Targa (traditional, only) if they would build it. 996 cabs are butt ugly top up, and look pretty sad top down.

POST 5Original post

Coupes are for wimps that run around with the air-conditioning and the sound system both turned up. Porsches are sports cars, so get it the way sports cars are meant to be, with a ragtop! =Carlos=

POST 6Original post

As an alternative, for the price of a TT you can own a beautiful 993 cab and a 996 coupe built just about any way you want it. For that matter, you could buy the 993 cab and a basic 996 coupe and have enough cash left over to add a super charger. Or you could get the 993 cab and a pristine 993TT. The world is full of possibilities. Jim

POST 7Original post

I am a coupe man... convertibles are ok to look at from afar, but something about owning one has never set right with me. go figure...

POST 8Original post

sorry for replying to such an old thread...but when i work nights i dig through the old stuff. Cabs are for women? Are you sayin' I got bitch ****? Lot-a Macho in this thread This can often be overcompensation for ones own deeper much repressed femeninity or homosexuality This is well documented in the Psychology Literature

POST 9Original post

coupes are stiffer and less flexy than cabs. i suggest that you take out a coupe with a sunroof on a windy canyon road and see if you don't really like the coupe better. i do although i don't live in california and don't get to use it as much. that all problems should be like this!

POST 10Original post

CABS ARE FOR WOMEN????? Cab guys...weigh in here

POST 11Original post

I went from a Boxster S to a C4S. I missed al fresco driving so much I got rid of the C4S and picked up a cab. I close with my favorite Nicholson quote, "Wind in the hair, lead in the pencil!"

POST 12Original post

This is why they make a hardtop. Best of both worlds, looks of a coupe, wind in your hair, and boy can I really hear that Techart(enhanced by Gemballa chip) exhaust. Regards

POST 13Original post

Went from a 964 cab to a 993 C4S. Never looked back and don't even open the sunroof. Although the coupe will flex less than a convertible, I doubt many of us will ever extract that level of performance. On some of our fun runs out here is SoCal, we are often led by a 993 cab that flat out goes. On our last one, the cab was leading a modded 996TT. Oh yeah, the cab has a stock suspension.

POST 14Original post

DonW, Thanks for your help earlier. Cabriolet is the only way. Regards, Mitch

POST 16Original post

photon, Actually, I have 2 cab's. That's all I need. These 2 cab's.......and this pen. These 2 cab's.....the pen......and this chair. And this hat. That's all I need. The 2 cab's, the pen, the chair and this hat. I don't need anything else. That's all I need. Regards

POST 18Original post

DonW, Thanks. They're really easy to take care of as well. Nice perq. BTW, how in the heck did you get a picture that seems to be well over 200 X 200 pixels to load as your avatar? Great looking car. What all have you done to it? Regards, Mitch

POST 19Original post

I had a Cab for a while, But I would Only put down the Top when the weather was perfect. When Its cold, its to cold to put it down, when Its hot, the sun just beats down on you. My favorite time to put it down was summer night when the sun was setting. But I rather have a coupe. They are stiffer, no creaks or rattles, and if I want some wind in my hair, pop the sunroof ( I got a big one) and roll down the widows.

POST 21Original post

The cab is more fun and is bearable even in slow traffic. I had a c4s and sold it because I did not find it as fun as the cab and do not track my car or spend inordinate amounts of time on the freeway. At the time, the c4s cab was not available but that would have been the ticket! It is just a personal preference as I like the wind when the top is down. However, the cab definitely has more squeaks and is not as stiff as a coupe.

POST 22Original post

Don, it would be like picking an arguement with a 12 year old autistic kid in a mall. Not winable and not worth winning.........Besides, this noise is the same old bravado from the same old sophomores.................YAWN. I looked atthe thread cause I thought there might be some usefull insight here, then the cat fight became entertaining................Should have known better. How is the weather in Florida? we are freezing up in Beantown.......

POST 23Original post

thanks guys I was pissed when i read this crap too!

POST 24Original post

Boy was I mistaken when I thought Porsche people as a whole had class. Some of the comments are straight ignorant. Some people should get their facts straight before the shoot there mouth off.

POST 25Original post

It is interesting to me how much difference there is in the breadth of maturity reflected from model to model. The 928 crowd as a whole, is much more mature and colegial than the 996 board. There are many relationships worth having on both boards, but there seems a much broader crossection of personalities on the 996 board. There are a lot of class people here autobahnNY, you just ignore the loudmouths..................

POST 26Original post

Mitch - nice 'Jerk' reference, and LOVE those rufs... Cab's are awesome, i'll give up some stiffness to be able to drop the top anytime...

POST 27Original post

01 C4 Cab NYC, Thanks and thanks. Nothing like a cab at speed on a perfect spring or fall day. Stay warm in NYC this weekend. Regards

POST 28Original post

Some people just like to mouth off without checking facts or having any personal experience on the subject. Cabs are fun way beyond simple wind in the hair. It's the whole experience of wind, light, noise, smell, and the unobstructed view. Regarding flex: Porsche claims the Turbo cab has the SAME STIFFNESS as the coupe. I would tend to believe Porsche more than then opinion of people that have never owned a Turbo Cab. Lastly in SoCal with the weather being what it is, if you don't get the cab you will kick yourself everytime you see one. And that's a lot of kicking.
