Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I move my car from one side of the garage this morining and noticed there was what appeared to be oil on the floor. After climbing under the car (without a rack couldn't really see much), I noticed that there was some moister on a couple of the exhaust joints. I was able to feel a couple of droplets. The car has the Porsche Motor sound option. I am also concerned about the RMS issues that are all over this board. The RMS was done on this car last year under warranty and I am told by the Porsche garage that the work is warranted for 2 years unlimited mileage so I should be OK. One question, in extreme cases if an engine replacement is required should this be covered by the same warranty that was on the original repair. The car is a 99 C4 cab with 28,500 miles.

POST 2Original post

I am not absolutely certain, but from what I have read on various porker Forums, nobody as yet has had to pay for a replacement 996 engine thru RMS problems. Mine is about to go in for its 2nd RMS in 2 months. This is a guess at the likely scenareo: 1st attempt, RMS is fixed under warranty or good-will. 2nd attempt RMS is fixed under warranty (because of 1st RMS failure). 3rd attempt....you get a new engine.

POST 3Original post

Always be on the lookout for leaks in any car. Clean the garage floor, drive the car until warm and park it in the garage. Check for drops the next day and investigate any leaks. With a mirror and a flashlight you can inspect a lot, but jacking up the car or driving on a ramp is best. Maybe you're OK, but now that you're concerned, you'll just have to take a good look.
