Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All: I have new pads and roters on the C2. The dealer that sold me the car did this. Was abou 1k miles ago. While at the track yesterday the Brake Wear light came on. I checked and the pads are still plenty thick. Is there a way to test with a OHM meter or the like and see which sensor is bad? Thanks. PS: I cleaned the calipers etc. and there was no change.

POST 4Original post

When my brake wear indicator lights started to come on, they would initially just come on while braking hard at the track. It wuld reset with the engine off, the come on again at the next HARD braking. It took several hundred more miles before it would come on with the first braking event regardless of how hard. Funny thing, the service rep said I still had several hundred miles left on the brakes, and it did look fair. I had it changed just because I track the the car and didn't want to take chances. Although the old pads still looked fair, I was surprised to see how thick the new pads were compared to the old. Bottom line, I think the sensors are somewhat too sensitive.

POST 5Original post

well they are easy enough to pop out assuming you don't mind taking off a tire. When you pull them ouf, they will be trigered when the insulator is torn and the wire begins to fray. If you don't see that then you can test them with a volt meter set on ohms-

POST 6Original post

There is a short in the sensor harness somewhere, It is likely a sensor wire pinched in the keeper at the back of one of the calipers. The sensor wires plug into a connedtor at the back of the hubs. Dissconnect each, one at a time until the light goes out. (cycle ignition between tests) you have then found the offending unit. They are cheap to replace.

POST 7Original post

I would do it like Gretch says. The 'sensor' is just a loop of wire. Once you found which one you can verify it with an ohm meter at the connector.
