So I assume that may be the reason for the check engine which has never come on before.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi new here! 996.2 Lapis Blue tip 121k Hmm does the side windows go up when the top is down?.I recall 997s do but do 996s? mine doesnt go up when i try to do it manually. Also PSM and ABS comes on at about 69 mph random times. I changed the air filter and cleaned the MAF. Will retest tomorrow and see if it still comes on. Any other tips? Passenger window doesnt go up when door is open. So i assume its the regulator. When you open the door it does go down a little but when you release the handle it immediately pops up. drivers seat doesnt go up or down (back seat). Motor? Lastly the dumb hose to the oil seperated and its almost impossible to get it back on. Thanks

POST 2Original post

Yikes a few issues, good luck, not sure i can assist you very much, but welcome, so im just throwing stuff at the wall to help you search for a solution. couple thoughts that are something to research... i find when i search google for an issue and scroll down i will often find a rennlist post about what i'm looking for.. but i think i read about a simple calibration method on the windows, this is what i do when my windows act up and don't want to do right, i go all the way down and back up manually, overriding the autofeature and it seems to reset something. mine is a coupe, but i can say that when the doors are open the auto feature is disabled and i have to hold the button down the whole time. i think the two lights PSM and ABS are possibly connected, maybe a faulty ABS sensor, if you are a tinkerer you may want to invest in a cheap OBD code reader that may help you diagnose.. Good luck...

POST 3Original post

On the windows, push the down button and hold the down button to the count of ten. Then push the up button and hold the up button to the count of ten. This resets the window upper and lower limits, and restores the auto up/down button push. The ABS/PSM lights could be a faulty MAF sensor. Clean it with some MAF cleaner, or replace it altogether. Don't go cheap on a replacement. Get OEM Porsche or Bosch.

Thanks. Note that its just the "notch" part meaning when you open the door it goes down a little and stays like that until the door is closed. When you open the door and release the handle it pops back up immediately. The drivers stays "notched" properly until the door is closed and then seals but going back up a little.

MAF I opened up today and sprayed it with MAF cleaner. It looks to be new to me being its bosch with no 996 code. So it was replaced at some point. I replaced the air filter as well. This way I'll drive her today and see if it comes back on.

POST 6Original post

Fyi, there has been a bunch of genuine bosche maf sensors that have not worked out of the box. U really need a scaner that can read/graph the sensor as u druve it to verify proper operation.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok so update. I cleaned the MAF and new air filter. Also got a odbc reader.. The car hasn't thrown off the PSM ABS light and drove her like 25 miles. Maybe that's fixed! Just as I came in the garage the cleck engine light came on! Weird how I just got a reader. Anyway it says System too lean 1 and 2. When i was changing the air filter the oil filler tube snapped off. Grrr. I just put it back sitting there. So I assume that may be the reason for the check engine which has never come on before. I got a 1 1/2 inch pcv coupler from the hardware store, put that on. Cleared the error and let's cross our fingers!

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So.. here's the pic of my work. Also note that the Connection Piece for Water Hose to Oil Separator broke off as well! I had to rig that as well. Any other parts after 121k I should know about that will break! Help me out here (plastic **** lol)

POST 9Original post

Might as well order a new oil filler pipe right now. And that plastic coolant connector breaks if you look at it wrong. Solve the problem forever by getting the metal coolant connector Rauch & Spiegle. I think Pelican Parts has them. Auto Atlanta has them.Well worth the money.

POST 10Original post

Or u can get the uro nipple for a lot less. Expect some of the vac lines to break if u ever have to pull the plenums to get to the middle of the motor. 1 meter from the dealer will redo the whole car. Also all the facrory plugs and clips r still available so plan in buying some for every wire/hose retainer u get near.

a similar part that joe posted. Easy to find on google or searching on rennlist.

ahh yes thank you. My solution is really in their tight. I slid in a metal tube that really is in there. It was about 3 inches. As you can see about an inch is exposed which I then cut the original bracket put a hole in it then added a twist tie it to the hose. I bet that solution will last a long long time. Taking that medal pipe out may loosen the hose and make the uro fitting too loose to use.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm seeing some expansion of the oil filler pvc I added. I drive her daily and I won't have time to fix it until 4 weeks or so. I'm thinking to go the gorilla duck tape or electrical tape way. Maybe leave that on there (the 1/ 1/2) inch PVC and just tape over it to have a good seal. Getting a loud whining sound on start up which sounds exactly like this post. https://rennlist.com/forums/996-turb...t-startup.html
