Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

i can't wait to get started on this car - driving it around is such a blast - one quick question though: what modifications are out there for adjusting the pedals?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

just got a 1999 996 coupe and i am absolutely in love with this car! i've been reading here and there about the early 996s having problems and possibly some QC issues - the car i got was a certified pre-owned and it has 2years/65k miles left on the warrenty so i should be good to go. the biggest problem i've read about was the RMS issue. question for those who track their porsches: if i go to DE events should i have any worries with pushing the car too hard or not?
my last car was a subaru WRX, which i worked on and modified for 2 years, i can't wait to start working on another boxer engine!
Robert
Welcome
I got my car about three weeks ago. Previous car was a Mercedes E500 Sport that had all kind of electrical gremlins. I have owned BMW's, Mercedes, etc., but the I have only been on two forums in my life. The first time was when I bought a Boxster three years ago and now that I bought my 996. There is definitely something special about these cars. Enjoy.
I don't track so I can't offer an opinion.
You are good to go! I've got 18,000 miles and so far no major problems, fingers crossed. I've tracked it maybe 24 or so days in 11 DE events, a full season/year of autocross, at the cost of 3 sets of tires, replaced the brake rotors and pads recently, more frequent oil and filter changes with a full going over at the service dept, more frequent bleeding brakes with Gold or Blue, and that's it!!
It's not how hard you push the car, it's how well you push it hard
. Never any hard launches with smelly clutch, it just ain't worth it. No slamming or gnashing of gears but a gentle swift slick shift with rev match, which is actually quite satisfying. Brake hard but never sudden, SMOOTHNESS is key. Leave your ego at home, never exceed your personal limits, and your car and you will stay on pavement never going off track. I strongly believe these cars were designed and built to be driven hard, and should last a loooong time so long as they are not abused.
Good luck on working on the engine. My understanding is that Porsche has squeezed almost all there is to squeeze without losing reliability/longevity on these engines.
Here is a hard turn while trail braking, with the right rear tire in the air. GO for it!!
thanks for the welcome guys! i can't wait to get started on this car - driving it around is such a blast - one quick question though: what modifications are out there for adjusting the pedals? heel-toeing is alot harder in this car than in my wrx - and thats about my only concern with the driving feel of the car.
