Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Suggestion

That is of course assuming you have a clean element.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

anyone install the fabspeed cold air kit. seems like a simple install . what are the gains and is it worth it or should i go to the EVO or Airtek highflow cold air upgrades? little help please...

POST 2Original post

Sal, not knowing anything about either system. Why don't you compare info and claims in each website?

POST 3Original post

My $.02... no cold air kit is going to make enough of a difference to justify the cost of the purchase. Better off spending your money elsewhere.

POST 5Original post

Have one coming next week. I run a few before and after passes ion Gtech to if it does anything. Should show up in passing gear accelleration regardless as my lunach. Heck, its only $ 225 and it makes sense to remove that muffler and the grate.

POST 6Original post

I ordered one with my Fabspeed exhuast, not much money and it seems to make the car feel better at the low end, the exhuast system is incredible, great work by their fabrication guys, great service! Cheers

POST 7Original post

I would tend to agree and focus on more bang for the buck first and then trickle down. I would start with headers, ecu, cats, mufflers, lightened flywheel and then do the intake mod. That is of course assuming you have a clean element. I have read numerous articles on both of the fabspeed and evo claims etc. The way it comes down to it is simply this: The evo intake as a cone will flow more and that is their whole deal- The inherent problem with the design is that it is not enclosed in entirety and thusly around town it draws hot air. However according to evo and others when the car is moving at sufficient rate the airfoil that is drawn in is sufficient enough to offset the hot air radiating and thus cold air is drawn in. They claim to have justified this by dyno testing. I would think that it might be the case; but for most people living in the city it would just not be worth it really. I think they could do a little more r&d and simply mold an airbox around the element with an opening like the factory one does. You could make a prototype with fiberglass or metal and then make a mold out of it and be done- Best of both worlds. that would be a fun project- I am sure you could get with K&N and have them put something together with sufficient demand like their fipk kits etc, and or check out the boxes they have for the cones and make your own from one off the shelf with a bit of work.

POST 8Original post

another really interesting thing to note would be of course that dyno's are subjective to a multitude of factors and conditions. I just read an interesting article in I believe european car? which spoke of the ways that you can manipulate your graphs all around. It included air temp runs, runs back to back, different baselines, different roller loads, and forced airfoils etc. Cool article- whatever mag it was

POST 9Original post

i have an airtek on my car and i definitely think it works well at high speeds, but suffers in city traffic. i have a very simple test: 1. after driving at low speeds for a while (city traffic), i can open the engine cover and the aluminum airbox cover that comes with the kit is warm. 2. after driving on the highway, if i open the engine cover and feel the airbox cover, it's very cold. it's as simple as that. at high speeds it gets very cold. at low speeds it's very warm. cold air is good, warm is bad. the stock airbox definitely doesn't get as cold. and the sound is awesome. much louder than stock!!!
