Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't really drive my car hard but I noticed that on a couple of occasions over the past weekend that if I go beyond 5500 RPM and shift that the engine tach jumps before the gear grabs. There is a noticeable smell. Does this sound like a clutch? Under more conservative shifting this does not happen and it has only happened two or three times. The car is a 99 with approximately 29,000 miles. Time to replace the rear tires. The car currently has 18" Dunlop SP9000's front and rear. Any suggestions? I don't plan to drive the car in the snow, but can imagine occasionally driving on wet roads. Anyone have a car cover they would recommend? The car will be in a heated garage for the winter. Has anyone used the car skates or equivalent to more easily place the car out of harms way in their garage? Sorry for the length and thanks for any help.
