Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

36k miles, and just had new brakes installed (front rotors and pads, rear pads).
Leading evidence: 'Install (front rotors and pads, rear pads)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Install (front rotors and pads, rear pads)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

first, i'd like to thank everyone on this board for all of the useful insights, tips and general info. the only thing more interesting than the comments are the various pictures of the cars
now on to my perplexion...
i have a 99 C2 (RoW M030 setup) with approx. 36k miles, and just had new brakes installed (front rotors and pads, rear pads). The first set of rotors were warped after about 35 miles, and had them replaced.
However, I am now noticing that the steering wheel begins to shimmy (sp?) at about 75mph, and when i brake at above 80mph, the shimmy turns into an amplified shake. When I brake at 65mph or below, no shake or shimmy. The mechanic told me I would probably have to get my wheels balanced (which I did approx. 3 weeks prior).
Today, when I went to the tire shop, they told me that the front wheels (inner half towards the axle) are almost bald, and that may be the reason for the shimmy at above legal speed.
If anyone can help diagnose the problem, I would greatly appreciate it. Will I need to get new rotors again? Or will the problem go away with new tires? At this point, I don't know where to begin.
Thanks in advance.

Did you have the same symptoms before you had the new rotors installed? Your new rotors should be straight as an arrow... so your problem may be related to the tires. Balding on the inside edge may be a sign of too much negative camber in the front. Perhaps an alignment is in order.
Even though your wheels are balanced, your tires may be out of round or flat-spotted.
If you have warn your front tires, especially in an uneven manner, you will get shake and even noise (at some harmonic). The more out of balance the tires get the lower the speed needed to reach that harmonic. You can statically "balance" warn out tires, but if they are not completely round (cupped from bad allignment) they will not roll smoothly. I have had this experience too many times, including every time my tires are near the end of their life. It is your tires. Get new ones and get an allignment.
Thanks all for your advice.
I contacted the local tire shop and ordered new Bridgestone S03's, as they seem to be most consistently praised in past discussions here. (If you have other suggestions, I'd love to hear them as well).
Hopefully, this will solve the problem and I can once again go about darting around town without that disheartening shake and shimmy.
