Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

If you have it you may be the first to actually enjoy it cos they would have to fix it under warranty and while they are at it replace your clutch

I would rather use the brakes to stop than go throught the gears!
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My 2002 coupe with 22K miles was in the dealer for some remapping of the computer, it was running a bit rough at times, and the tech said my clutch may be going south soon. To my surprise obvioulsy,... never tracked the car and drive gingerly especially when upshifts and downshifts are concerned. I would rather use the brakes to stop than go throught the gears!
Does any one get better longevity out of their clutch? Dealer quoted around $1700 for the replacement, and that's if you're not stupid enough to score the flywheel, than add another grand.
Maybe my independent mech. can do it for less?
Thanks!
So, the technician is *guessing* that you need a new clutch just because your car is running rough? Can you explain the "rough" part, especially as to what is rough?
The running rough part had nothing to do with the tech's analysis of the clutch, it was when he drove it or inspected it that he made his hypothesis. Which one I don't know (drove it or inspected it) and will find out when I go pick it up today. Can't believe a clutch will only last 25-30K miles the way I drive!
Check for an RMS leak. If you have it you may be the first to actually enjoy it cos they would have to fix it under warranty and while they are at it replace your clutch
You may not see the oil actually drip. Look under the back of the car.
Check behind the engine between the wheels. "dead centre". If you see any oil you got it. Never thought I would say this but hope you got it
