Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just wondering if anyone had diagrams or something about how they routed the wires in their 996 for an amp installation. I am thinking about doing it in the next couple weeks and hoped that someone already has some knowledge about this. Especially since the 996 is such a small car, mouning options are very limited. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

No diagrams, but I do have a JL amp mounted in the front storage area, on the floor. The amp is mounted to a piece of particle board and the wires only go a few feet away to the battery, all behind factory lining. The amp is hidden by another custom cut board covered in matching carpet (leaving just the top face of the amp exposed). The resulting look is clean and still leaves some room for storage. That said, I could not think of a better place to mount the amp. Also, the closer it is to the battery, the less chance you run in creating a ground loop problem (the annoying whine heard in some car systems). If you do it yourself, take your time. BL

POST 3Original post

Back in Lagos, there were no cables, connectors, switches or even a porsche dealership.. I got help from Loren who gave me the audio diagram of the car.. I simply parallelled the existing amplifier audio-in wires (which strangely was a Nokia brand) to a bigger amp and wired the auto-switch as well to the new amp. The new speakers were place on a carpet covered plywood and wired thru the under of the seats all the way to the front wheel arch, which i drilled (!) and recovered with bitumen to seal it again.. all the way to the front boot again! It worked perfectly well... Waz
