Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

You run a jumper wire from the driver's side socket that does have power to the passenger side - then the passenger side will have power.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 2003 C4S. When the rear fog light switch is turned on, only one light, red drivers side, lights up. Is this what everybody has?

POST 2Original post

Yup. Only one light. But I wired mine for both.

POST 5Original post

I disconnected mine completely and wired them, both sides, into the brake circuit. More pronounced braking "condition".

POST 6Original post

How does one wire the car for both rear fog lights? thx, --Dennis

POST 7Original post

For safety purposes, that is NOT a good idea. If you had both sides on for fog lights, people behind you will confuse them for brake lights. That's the reason why only the left side is used for fog lights. It is the EU code.

POST 8Original post

I also don't understand why so many people want to do that. You can turn on the front fog lights without activating the rear one.

POST 9Original post

What's worse is people driving around with any and all fog lights on full time whether or not there's real fog. First, it was BMW drivers, now it's just about any car which has fog lights. I just don't get it.

POST 10Original post

Not only that, they're generally detrimental to good night vision. Fog lamps mostly illuminate the close in area in front of the car. Your eyes react to the close in brightness by reducing your vision.

POST 11Original post

The bulb socket on the passenger side has a wire to it but there is no power. You run a jumper wire from the driver's side socket that does have power to the passenger side - then the passenger side will have power. On a Boxster we can run the wire in the rear trunk. On a 996 you have to do it in the engine compartment. I did it as an experiment and my car is back the way it was. No fog where I live so I have never used the fog lights. Jeff
