Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The 996 had just come out at that point so I don't know if they've changed their policy.

Suggestion
In 1999 I did a DE event in Zone 1 run by the Metro NY Porsche Club and they required that I have the removable hardtop on even though the car has the pop-up roll bars.

Suggestion
To my memory, all older model cabs running at the track (in DEs) have been fitted with roll bars as a requirement in higher run groups as stated by DJF1.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It depends on who is running the event. Panoz (

), TrackQuest (

) and Chin (

) allow 996 Cabs with the top up or down. Just check with other track rats in your area, I'm sure some events will allow the car, top or not...
Good luck.

You wanna say in the "green" group only? Move to "Blue" and you will need a Rollbar. I'm not sure if you can get away with the hardtop as on the 993's which I know or sure we have no such option. Before I bought my track car I run in the advanced group with my cabrio only with the roll bar in place and that is the LSR region...
You sound like Dr. Seuss!
Cab requirements vary by region. Some require fixed roll bars and some don't.
DJF1, LSR-PCA actually allows cabs to run soft top up at least up into the white group, so long as they have the pop-up rollover protection (e.g. MY02 and up). I'm not sure about the red group, though.
I know the old bylaws state rollover bars are necessary for cabriolets, but cabs with pop-up bars are permitted to run.

Danny, what the heck are you doing in BC now???
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Ahhh... did not know that... I remember that when the new bylaws came out I had to go out and buy a DAS and drilled my poor baby to install it
Unfortunately I'm moving to Vancouver this February, I will for sure miss Texas and Houston, but hopefully I will be doing at least the club race at TWS every year as I do not plan on cutting my ties off completely from the H-town. I will miss the LSR DE in January but I will be there on the 24th with the TWS club as I need to re-learn the car again before the club race in March with my new JRZ suspension
Hope to see you guys there!
I was only referring to my model year and on... but you gents are correct. The 996 cabs (MY'99 and on...) are allowed to run in the Lone Star Region due to the pop-up rollover protection. No extra roll bar is required.

Obviously, my memory has not been too good of late since Bill_C4S had to remind me of a stock Turbo Cab running in the Red group!
