I seem to be a bit confused, when i posted that i had raced a z06 vette and my neighbors 03 SVT Cobra and beaten them both i ran into quit the resistance on this board from nay sayers i guess, is there some kind of power upgrade from the factory that my car could have that would push the HP up a bit?

Suggestion

The parts can be bought and installed after the fact but I think you would know if you did that or, if you bought the car used, the previous owner would have mentioned it.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I seem to be a bit confused, when i posted that i had raced a z06 vette and my neighbors 03 SVT Cobra and beaten them both i ran into quit the resistance on this board from nay sayers i guess, is there some kind of power upgrade from the factory that my car could have that would push the HP up a bit? and from looking at other boards and i researched the specs on my car as well as my wifes new slk32 amg i theoreticly should not be able to beat her car as well but i can? i guess i need to find a local shop to dyno this baby on and see if perhaps i got some goodies that i can't see

POST 2Original post

I think you're referring to the Powerkit, which increased the HP from 296 to 320. For 99 models this was not available from the factory. The parts can be bought and installed after the fact but I think you would know if you did that or, if you bought the car used, the previous owner would have mentioned it. The parts alone are around $10K and the install probably another $3K, so I'm sure the previous owner would try to recover some of that in a resale. More than likely you just got a good engine and was broken in and maintained properly. Karl

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yes i bought the car used and i never got to speak with the actual owner so i guess its off to the dyno

POST 4Original post

I thought the power kit was only for the 3.6 motors and not for the 3.4 litres which the '99's were. BUT, in case I'm wrong..... and there IS an upgrade to bump up my '99's torque, please let me know!

POST 5Original post

Hi Charles: The factory powerkits were originally made for the 3.4's and the 320 HP is about right. I have a brand new kit here as we speak,...
