That said, I spoke to Jud at LN/FSI today and be said new Bosch-made Chinese ones are still better than using rebuilt/cleaned older ones and they still pass Bosch standard which doesnt make it a cheap move, but uhhhhh, not astronomical in the grand scheme of Porsche parts.
Leading evidence: 'Clean older ones and they still pass bosch standard ' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean /rebuilt german-made/pre-china bosch a better option than these' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Are cleaned/rebuilt German-made/pre-China Bosch a better option than these?

Because data is invaluable, I send new and old injectors alike to RC Fuel for a diag and cleaning before they go into a car.

Not sure I would rely 100% on LN making a recommendation...they are not necesarilly focused on researching and recommending alternatives already available in the market.

I suppose LN would have recommended these three if they are appropriate.

Im getting mixed opinions on this, but the Raby/FSI side is that the refurbd ones may flow well in a test environment, but can still have leak down under heated real world circumstances, which I can see being problematic if not caught early and being run in a car that hasnt had its bores sleeved.

Also FWIW, I would not question Jakes experience about using 20 year old 100K mile injectors that are cleaned and "rebuilt"...There is no opening them up, so internal wear is very likely on any moving part, and Jake doesn't stand to make much profit on selling injectors he doesn't make ( maybe a little mark-up profit ?), but does stand to loose a lot if an old injector causes a failure of a new engine....

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks like LN are no longer carrying the much cheaper aftermarket "white" fuel injector alternatives for Bosch.
I found Sierra Madre Collection selling but they fulfill orders directly from LN.
Any sound affordable alternatives at this time?
The Bosch P/N is 0 280 156 053, a Google search may show other options.
Additionally, the following Bosch P/N's show identical specifications to the 053 part so they may also be a option with some research:
0 280 156 091
0 280 156 101
0 280 156 107
I wouldnt trust Ali Express for **** lol! I have no idea, I was just showing there are other options available still in white plastic. I wouldn't personally order these myself, but between the 4 options I listed above there is bound to be a set available somewhere.
Why are new chinese-made Bosch injectors better than having the originals cleaned?
The flow rate on my original 3.4 injectors was night and day after cleaning. They came back looking brand new and seem to be working great.
Im getting mixed opinions on this, but the Raby/FSI side is that the refurbd ones may flow well in a test environment, but can still have leak down under heated real world circumstances, which I can see being problematic if not caught early and being run in a car that hasnt had its bores sleeved. Less so for a nikasil bore from what Ive read, though not a problem you wanna just let ride forever.
I personally have not tried any of them but here are some pictures & specifications between the 3:
https://spareto.com/products/bosch-i.../0-280-156-053
https://spareto.com/products/bosch-i.../0-280-156-091

I see same spec for all three with the 996 injector but obviously fitment would be questionable. I suppose LN would have recommended these three if they are appropriate.
I don't understand what Raby is saying here. Non-DI fuel injectors are caveman tech - you test their flow rate, spray pattern and pulse response at roughly the simulated environment you expect them to be used in (engine bay temps). They will behave in-situ like they test so long as you're giving each the electrical signal it needs and not throwing excess water, heat, or vibration at them. If the test didn't catch a leak, what the heck did you pay the tester for?
Because data is invaluable, I send new and old injectors alike to RC Fuel for a diag and cleaning before they go into a car. Plenty of brand-new Bosch injectors failed flow and spray testing, even NOS German-made. I've thrown away a few injectors in 10 years and they were new Chinese Bosch EV6's; everything else responds great to ultrasound (even leaky ones stop doing that). All the others seem to come back indefinitely with a schedule of ~biennial ultrasounds and regular usage of Techron.
Yeah, it seems like engine builders are generally split on it. Also seems like leak down (which sounds rare) is a much bigger deal for stock bores and would pose less threat to a car with Nickies.
Not sure I would rely 100% on LN making a recommendation...they are not necesarilly focused on researching and recommending alternatives already available in the market. The ECU regulates the flow of fuel, not the injector. Case in point, the early injectors for the 996.1 are NLA but Porsche recommends the later version even though there are some differences between the 2 (body size, tips/spray pattern).
Those three injector are the same "style" ( EV-6-E) with same connector ( mini-timer/EV-1) and flow rate, but the differences are in the grove for the clip, the tabs that hold the injector in position ( to keep from turning so the spray pattern is directed exactly as wanted)
Notice this one has a tab that would need to be trimmed off , ( red arrow) and the grove may not be in the correct place or fully all the way around....( green arrow)
These may be easy to fix/DIY, but someone will have to buy them, do it, and then explain it to everyone else..lol.....anyone ??
Also FWIW, I would not question Jakes experience about using 20 year old 100K mile injectors that are cleaned and "rebuilt"...There is no opening them up, so internal wear is very likely on any moving part, and Jake doesn't stand to make much profit on selling injectors he doesn't make ( maybe a little mark-up profit ?), but does stand to loose a lot if an old injector causes a failure of a new engine....
Me personally I have seen a few 20 year old high mileage injectors that would "stick open" when hot on a re-start, and totally flood the engine on one cylinder so that you would have to hold the throttle wide open just to get it to fire up, then it would miss so badly the ECU would shut down the injector completely to protect the cat convertor from damage...
