Owning a speed shop, calling yourself a custom car creator and running on what was reported to be twelve year old tires is the ultimate in stupid and short sighted, especially for a "race" driver.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OMG! Is this just ridiculous!? Article in news today.... The widow of the driver in the fatal car crash that killed actor Paul Walker has filed a lawsuit against Porsche , alleging the cars design flaws were to blame for the wreck. Kristine Rodas, in documents filed in L.A. County Superior Court on Tuesday, claims the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT lacked certain safety features, which could have prevented the deaths of her husband, Roger Rodas, and Walker when the car crashed in November in Santa Clarita, Calif. The lawsuit also claims Roger Rodas was driving the car at approximately 55 miles per hour when it spun out of control before crashing and bursting into flames. This contradicts a Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department report released earlier this year that found the Porsche was traveling at a speed of least 94 mph. The speed limit in that zone is 45 mph. The Los Angeles County Coroners report in January found that speed was the main cause of the crash, not mechanical failure. The suit alleges the Porsche lacked a properly functioning crash cage and gas-tank safety features, which could have prevented the fire. The Carrera GT was unsafe for its intended use by reason of defects in its manufacture, design, testing, component and constituents, so that it would not safely serve its purpose, according to the suit.

POST 2Original post

I feel sorry for the guy and his widow. I really do. But I also believe this: Things happen for a reason. Sometimes that reason is that you're stupid and you make bad decisions. Driving 94 mph in a residential neighborhood is stupid, and it's a bad decision. Blaming the deaths as a result of the crash on Porsche is also stupid.

POST 3Original post

I'm surprised this suit was filed but not shocked. Plaintiff's suits like this one are exactly what I have been defending during my professional career and often they sound ridiculous but have a kernel of legitimacy. I would hope this one would go away but money makes people do things.

POST 4Original post

I guess her lawyer explored suing the tree for not having safety padding but it went nowhere...

POST 5Original post

There was a previous Carrera GT related accident lawsuit in 2007 where Porsche paid out 8% of the 4.5million dollar settlement. So based on that, maybe they're hoping for at least something. I'm gonna contact my lawyer tomorrow to see if the RMS leak that dripped over my rear tires causing me to get in an accident has any lawsuit possibilities.

Oh and what about that hot coffee from Burger King which burned the skin on your legs during the smash. Don't forget that part of the story lol.

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 11366796

You should do yourself a favor and do 30 seconds of research into that case so you don't look like a complete idiot when you reference it.

POST 8Original post

porsche will send them a small check to go away and stop the suit. as for the tree...i am sure the lawyer will look at the site/plot plan and see if the tree was within specs...if not they will add the landscapers to the defendants .as far as filing lawsuits.....................'THE FAULT DEAR BRUTUS LIES NOT IN OUR STARS BUT WITH US...."

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 11366802

Pity you didn't spend 30 seconds figuring out that the dripping oil and the spilling coffee was meant as a joke. Oh but you lawers know best. MacDonalds, Burger King does is effin matter if meant as a joke. Moron.. COMPLETE.

Owning a speed shop, calling yourself a custom car creator and running on what was reported to be twelve year old tires is the ultimate in stupid and short sighted, especially for a "race" driver. I have pennies on the dollar compared to this guy and I still sent a set of Bridgestones with a ton of tread to the fire pile due to tread block damage.

POST 11Original post

Gurdyman, The lady who has been maligned in urban lore as a litigious succubus was actually critically burned, it was on a netflix special, everyone must have viewed it. Her story is actually a cautionary tale of how the powerful 24/7 media can paint whatever image they wish and present it as news facts. Don't be the guy without empathy that perfects the other urban lore, that everyone who owns a Porsche is a ricardo cabezza.

i believe he was making with the humor...get some dude...then chill

POST 13Original post

Yeah...blame it on the car and not the driver! Just like everything these days, blame it on someone else and never take any personal responsibility for anything. Sue everybody and let the chips fall where they may. They forgot to include the tire manufacturer and gas station where they put gas in the car. Oh, and the L.A. street department for creating the street in the first place, and God for creating the tree. Yeah, yeah, yeah.....

POST 14Original post

So Hurdi's joke is to compare a legitimate claim by a woman who was burned to what appears to be a frivolous claim by the family in this case? That's .... funny?

POST 15Original post

IIRC, there's been many spilled coffee lawsuits. Some more serious than others. Either way guys, lighten up. There's a lot more serious things to bicker over like the IMS. Hurdi thanks for the suggestion but I gotta think of something new and without too much history. It's too bad the damn German cars come with precut area on the floor mats around the accelerator pedal. They must've had some foresight around that.

POST 17Original post

It's funny how someone got busted for getting the facts wrong about another case when the title of this thread is totally a false statement. It is not Paul Walker's widow that has filed the claim.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 11366928

I clearly picked up on Hurdi's sarcasm and got a chuckle out of it. Time to move on.

woooaaaah.... she is so hot she could self combust..

POST 20Original post

Thank goodness we can count on Pete to bring the voice of reason and sanity to an otherwise dull handbag fight where nearly everyone has at least some facts incorrect. And Hurdi...she's so hot I could self-combust!

POST 23Original post

Hey Chao......it is back together but am zeroing in on a fouling plug issue at 5. Been traveling quite a bit and this weekend a new injector will go in. Hopefully that will getting me up to snuff. Thanks for asking.

POST 26Original post

i haven't researched but i thought i heard that the mikey-d's coffee lawsuit was settled for a hell of a lot less after the case was appealed?
