Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I used the co-ax but they have a component line as well.

But I have to come clean, I am neither an audiophile (many years on riding motorcycles have done enough damage to my ears), nor am I a stereo expert, I am fine with mechanical but electrics and stereo stuff is double dutch to me.
Leading evidence: 'Use co-ax' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean i am neither an audiophile (many years' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used a dremel and sanding bit to file down the bose door openings so that the 528s fit well.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I have been reading with interest all of the head unit and amp upgrades that many members have been doing with interest. But to me they seem pretty complex.
But I have to come clean, I am neither an audiophile (many years on riding motorcycles have done enough damage to my ears), nor am I a stereo expert, I am fine with mechanical but electrics and stereo stuff is double dutch to me.
I have the standard Bose system and have put up with it for 2 yrs, but as we all know the sound quality is pretty poor, I added the Becker Aux input, but is it a waste of time and money as its a mono input.
So I am looking for the following:
1. Keep the standard head unitsSorry but I am not a fan of aftermarket unit look, I prefer the OEM. I also want to keep all the interior speakers looking EOM.
2. Linked to the above, want to be able to convert it back to standard if needed. So dont want to hack anything.
3. Adding the ability to play my IPhone tunes, so looking at the Dice universal system.
4. Dont want to invest a fortune in the upgrade, but fed up with getting out of my 2005 A4 DD and realizing how crap the 911 system is!
So my question is, what they best sub $500 upgrade I can do whilst keeping the standard look?
Thanks for your advice in advance
Thanks for the reply, somehow i had missed your recent posts on Dynamat, so I will defiantly get some and star by lining the Bose box.
For the replacement speakers I understand you fitted GTO 628 in the Bose box, 528's in the front doors and 328's in the dash and rear sides?, I presume the 2 way models
Thanks for your help
I used the co-ax but they have a component line as well. I just stuffed the 628s in the bose box between the plastic parts, firing downward. They fit and do not move even though they are not screwed/bolted down yet. I used a dremel and sanding bit to file down the bose door openings so that the 528s fit well.
Lots of good information on this subject and also from sds911. I've done a few inexpensive improvements to my Bose/Most system in my 4s cab. My goal was to improve sound, keep the stock head unit, no cutting and not spend a lot.
- JBL GTO's 328's front dash and rear $94
- lined Bose sub box with two sheets of Dynamat $14
I wanted to swap out the sub speaker, but it was an odd size like 4.5x6 or something.
Overall, it was a good sound improvement for very little cost. However, it's not going to blow you away. Now I'm trying to figure out the best way of connecting my iPhone. Options so far:
- Becker aux in. Only $100, but it's mono sound and not stereo.
- Dice 200 - FM modulator USB/aux in - $100
- Dension Soundbridge 500, full Most integration, $400 and a little more complex installation.
Let us know what you bed up doing and share some pics of your instal.
I just put a Tranzit Blu HF in my '05 with Bose. Cost less than the Dice (assuming DIY install) and although it doesn't have USB or aux input jack, it offers Bluetooth streaming of audio from my iphone, plus of course phone calls (and text messaging with Siri voice control).
