Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Still getting problem with window going down six inches from top after getting out and closing door.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just replaced drivers side with OEM unit, following a video I found here on search. Window now does not go down all the way, leaving about 1 inch showing. Window is fully seated in clamps, and regulator is all the way down. Also, sometimes after putting it all the way up, it then goes down about 6 inches on its own. I did the part about putting it all the way up, then holding the up button another 5 seconds to program the motor. Can't see that the adjustment screws next to the clamps do anything. Suggestions?

POST 2Original post

Did you check the regulator well before installation? When I replaced mine (with OEM) it had (I think is was two but it could have been one) plastic pins in the bottom to hold it during shipping. If you do not see those and remove them, it will cause the window not to go down all the way...

POST 3Original post

+1 on the stopper on the bottom. They needs to be removed for it to go all the way down.. I had to do that. I think the reprogramming is to pur the window all the way DOWN and hold. Try that

POST 4Original post

Sounds like the plastic stops were left in place. The 996 and the 986 Boxster share window regulators, and the stop is meant to be left in place for the Boxster and removed for the 911.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, upper stop removed, window goes all the way down. Still getting problem with window going down six inches from top after getting out and closing door. The auto 1/4 inch drop for opening and closing door works fine.

POST 6Original post

The glass might be going too high, causing it to back down because it's hitting the frame. I think to reprogram the top you just hold down the up window button for 5 seconds.
