Suggestion · Original poster

I'm not sure if it's due to some sort of back pressure developing somewhere up to the gas tank but whenever I try filling my 2004 996 shortly after starting to fill the car the gas will start spurting back out of the fill hole.

To fill the tank the gas has to be entered very slowly to prevent it from launching back out at me again not sure if it's due to a pressure build up or maybe something blocking the passage of the gas.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey guy! New to the forums here and thought I might be able to dip into the large pool of knowledge that is rennlist and see if anyone else is having the same problem I'm experiencing. I'm not sure if it's due to some sort of back pressure developing somewhere up to the gas tank but whenever I try filling my 2004 996 shortly after starting to fill the car the gas will start spurting back out of the fill hole. I tried filming this, as hard as it was, to give you guys a better idea of what's going on. To fill the tank the gas has to be entered very slowly to prevent it from launching back out at me again not sure if it's due to a pressure build up or maybe something blocking the passage of the gas. Any input would be apprieciated, not sure if this is a common problem or not.

POST 3Original post

I have found that some gas nozzles have to be hand held at a specific angle to let the gas flow in freely without shutting off prematurely.
