Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I also used a cover on and off last winter due to my travel schedule and apparently taking it on/off can be tough on this paint.

I did minimal research and had a buddy that had used cQuartz and liked it.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thought I would pass this along in case other folks were in the same situation. The paint on my car was in pretty bad shape. It had a lot swirl marks, several chips and a few areas that I had been pretty aggressively worked on in the past. I followed gator996's instructions (thanks for the great post) and I saw meaningful improvement. However, it still wasn't quite right. The paint is soft to start with and some of the areas were pretty thin, so being a novice I didn't feel comfortable pushing the limits/possibly doing more damage. Based on research here and referrals from a few friends I took the car to lustrdetail (

). Ivan did a great job. It took a few stages and he finished it off with cQuartz. I've attached a link to a few pictures. Paint looks like new now. No affiliation, but a very satisfied customer. Also installed stainless door guards and new pedals over the weekend. I'm going to do the suspension in the spring.

Yes. Ivan had good things to say about both 22PLE and cQuartz. I did minimal research and had a buddy that had used cQuartz and liked it. It rained all day today and the water certainly rolls off of it as advertised. So far I'm happy with it.
He was very reasonable. He has price estimates on his site. Small business owner and only does 1 or 2 cars at a time, so the wait list is long. I waited a few months and it doesn't look I'll be able to get my wife's truck in until January. I've always washed/detailed my own cars, but after shopping around, I'd say the cost of correction/application was in line with what others in town were charging for a "full detail"
That is a big challenge with black cars. I know mine was like the OP's when I initially bought it. Now it needs another round of polishing but I need to measure the paint thickness first.
Agreed. I've had several black cars and the porsche black has been the hardest to take care of. I drive it everyday, so its never going to be perfect. I probably "over wash" it...my excuse to smoke a cigar and get out of the house. I also used a cover on and off last winter due to my travel schedule and apparently taking it on/off can be tough on this paint. From what I've read, the other colors on these cars hold up better, but it is all pretty soft. The cQuartz has a 18month guarantee, so we'll see if it makes it.
I've seen time lapsed tests on cQuartz on other forums but never on a black 996 specific paint. Please keep us posted in 3,6,8,12 months on how it's holding up.
