Suggestion

If the window regulator was replaced prior to you purchasing it, I think the bottom stop was not removed prior to installation.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 2002 911 has had an issue since I bought it this spring. The driver's window will go down until about 2 inches is showing. It operates completely normally other than this one odd feature. No funny noises, no issues with the "drop down" feature when you open the door, etc. Anyone else see this?

POST 2Original post

I am betting someone replaced the regulator and didn't take the stop off of the rail closest to the door hinge. It should be on for a Boxster and removed for a 996. I found a picture of the stop but mine was held on by a screw, not a rivet like the one in the picture in the link... Click on the picture to enlarge it. It was a simple matter to get it to go down all the way, just removed the screw holding the stop in place. http://www.renntech.org/forums/topic...s/#entry210877

POST 3Original post

+1 ^^ If the window regulator was replaced prior to you purchasing it, I think the bottom stop was not removed prior to installation. Easy to fix, but you need to remove the door panel.

POST 5Original post

Other posters are correct. Recently replaced drivers side window regulator with OE Porsche. Had to remove the bottom stop for full travel. You will have to remove the door panel and molded foam door seal to reach the door regulator. The stop is on the bottom of the guide frame nearest the door hinge. Now having done this, it would be about a thirty minute job start to finish.
