I brought my 1999 Boxster to my local mechanic due to air bag light would stay on. He told me that both seat belt receptacles needed to be replaced. So I ordered the parts and replaced the seat belt receptacles. When I reconnected the battery the dreaded air bag light was still on. Does anyone know if the seat belt light should go off after replacing the receptacles or do you have to reset it? If you have to reset it, what's the least expensive device that would reset the codes? Thanks in advance.

You have to reset the airbag light. Durametric and some advanced scanners can do it. A local shop might be able to do it in a few seconds if you are nice.

Yeah, get a durametric. It will come in handy. Went thru the same thing when my indy had my seats out. The reset is no big deal.

Yeah, I echo the Durametric recommendations. Should be the top choice other than a Porsche PIWIS for these cars. If money is an issue at the moment, then just buy a Autel scanner that will read the SRS module. Just make sure you get the Porsche model of Autel! They usually can be bought for around $100-200.
