That's a good question, because while I have it set now for reverse so that the mirror stops when it should, I don't want to use that feature.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I recently bought a 2000 C4, millennium edition. First time it rained after getting it, the wipers didn't work. Unplugged and re-plugged the connection and now they work. Driver's side power rearview didn't work. Got the car painted and now it works (after being put back on). So it appears that unplugging and re-plugging things on my car can fix them. Here is the issue...since the paint job and reattachment of the passenger-side mirror, it behaves strangely. When you put the car in reverse, the it motors to a fully down position and continues to try to motor downward. Then about 30 seconds later it stops. Once you put the car in drive, it takes about another 20 to 30 seconds before it magically returns to its starting point. It didn't do this before it was taken off for the paint job. Is this some awesome electrical issue or did they offer an option 13 years ago that would help you see curbs when reversing by lowering the mirror? I know some late model cars have an option that lowers the mirrors in reverse, but I think they lower both. My driver's side mirror doesn't do this. And as I said, when the passenger side lowers, it doesn't stop at the bottom, it keeps on trying to move against the stop. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

I know you can program at least the passenger side, that's the way it is on my 2004 C2. I'm sure that there are instructions somewhere.... I just never bothered to look for them.

POST 3Original post

Yes it's a feature but it should stop in a couple of seconds and not keep trying. Something is not right inside the mirror....

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, that's a start, thank. One of the pins was a bit bent, maybe that's it.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know how to program the seats? My car didn't come with an owners manual.

POST 6Original post

With ignition ON, just press the "M" and one of the number buttons simultaneously to store the current setting. If you want the side mirror to tilt automatically, do the above with the shifter put in reverse.

POST 7Original post

Sit in your drivers seat. Set your seat from the (dash for mirrors and seat from seat side ) to where you want it including the lumber pressure, then hold the button number 1 while holding button SET for 3 seconds and that's your driving position set. When you push number 1 again it always goes to that set position for you. The buttons on mine are under the drivers door in the middle near your left leg. Do the same for number 2 driver (wife) or who ever. Don't forget to hold 2 and the SET button and that's set then for driver 2. Number 3 button is then free for you to set for reversing. Again from the dash setting drop your rear view mirrors left and right ( I like to see the kerb line on each side) and seat if needed to suit you when you reverse and hold SETand 3 for 3 seconds and that's always set when ever you want to reverse simply push on 3 and it goes into the reverse settings for you. SO in conclusion before you drive off you have to push number 1 again and you are set to drive. 1..2.. and 3.. are set. Number one for you, number 2 for 2nd driver and number three for reversing. Mine is a 99 job and works like that. It doesn't go into the reversing mode simply by selecting the reverse gear. At least I don't think it does but may do. It does not move your inside rear mirror. You have to work that manually every time you reverse if needed. I suggest you try re setting all buttons and things may start working correctly again. If you want to reverse, now all you do is push on number 3 button. To drive off push number 1 again. Just a little added info. If you are driving along and you think you are to far from, or too near to the wheel, too high or too low. Simply adjust back or forward, up or down, more upright or layed back, from the side of your seat when driving. Then you can reset that position by holding the SET and number one for 3 seconds and that's reset for the next time. You can do all that as you are driving.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ahsai and Hurdi, thank you for the responses.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Unplugged it, manually centered the mirror, and reprogramed it and everything works. Thanks again

POST 11Original post

Dumb question - how do I undo the reversing mirror curb setting? Manual doesn't seem to address this.

POST 12Original post

I assume you store the setting as above but with the shifter in neutral.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

That's a good question, because while I have it set now for reverse so that the mirror stops when it should, I don't want to use that feature. Did you try reprogramming it with it in neutral? I've tried it in park and in reverse (to just set the mirror like normal) and it doesn't undo it. Haven't tried neutral though.
