I have a 996 Tip as well, I have replaced my wheel with a three spoke carbon wheel with tip buttons and an airbag for the three-spoke wheel, no problems at all.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello Porsche Friends I have a 996 Tiptronic with the awful (my opinion) four spoke wheel. Im thinking of replacing it with a three spoke wheel without the Tip buttons, I rarely use them anyway. Will there be any issues you think? I also found new steering wheels with buttons for the Tip, but they are about 1000-2000$, a little pricy, I think... Any other suggestions, ideas or pointers, please tell me. Mike Sweden

POST 2Original post

Hi Mike (eller hej!), I am also from Sweden... I have a 996 Tip as well, I have replaced my wheel with a three spoke carbon wheel with tip buttons and an airbag for the three-spoke wheel, no problems at all. But I want a more "race" look so I have just bought the Works Bell hub with carbon fiber paddles and a Momo suede steering wheel. The kit includes a harness to eliminate the airbag warning light. Works Bell is a Japanese company but they have a reseller in Australia where I bought it. You can google "Works Bell 996". The company in Australia is called Tuners Group. Let me know if you need more info... By the way, my kit is not mounted yet since my car has been at my indy for ages (that's another story in another tread...). Good luck!
