I swapped the Porsche caps into the center, which I really like.

Not all of us can be krazyk and rebuild an engine with a pack of band aids some used gum and the cardboard backing from a spiral notebook.

You could always rent some additional tools like a spring compressor from Autozone for free or if you have a spare car, run the whole unit over to a mechanics garage and pay a nominal fee to have them remove/install the springs from the struts.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Motor mounts arrive Monday.
After that I am debating between H&R springs and Fister D muffler. I can do the mufflers removal/reinstall labor myself, not sure I want to tackle the springs myself so i am leaning toward the mufflers next.
U will love the fister mod and yes, it is easy to do, so u can save a few bucks. U will smile once it is installed for a real long time. Darin does great work. go for it! Looks great!
Those look awesome!
I'm partial to the Muffler delete pipes, but I am used to bikes with aftermarket exhausts... best bang for the buck mod I have done yet and finally sounds like a proper sorsche ports car IMHO. Food for thought
Look great! The motor mounts are the single best modification I did to my car from an driveability standpoint. The Fister D's are also great, the best from an overall making it sound better standpoint.
What size are the rims and tyres? Do you have spacers?
Also tyre brand choice logic? Starting to research tyres myself.
Btw they do look pretty awesome.
Front are 18*8 with 235/40-18 Hankook ventus
Rear are 18*10.5 with 295/30-18 same.
Wheels are victor equipment Innsbruck. I swapped the Porsche caps into the center, which I really like.
Tire decision was based on reviews and cost. Money wasn't the primary concern but Michelin PS2s would have been an extra $1,000 or so and I would rather spend that money on other projects.
I like the look of the 295 rears. Here is a comparison of the original 255 on the car next to the 295:
Cheers. I did notice the caps and they do look cool. I'm a huge fan of the fat boots at the back also, I currently have 265/30's and will be looking at ~305's on the rear and whatever fits at the front.
Would live to see a photo from the back to see how mean they look.
Looking to improve my rear :-)
Cheers for the reply.
Here is my current rear.

Ha! Definitely can provide babysitting; doubt you are making the trip to Central Pa. Don't worry, suspension is on the list, I just want to prioritize the bang for the buck items and I can do Fister Ds and motor mounts for ~$700 total. Doing sport springs + install + alignment will be more than that, I'm guessing. Coilovers? Waaaay more.
The old ones were 17s. Will be posting those for sale soon, if anyone is interested in some winter wheels/tires . They have Michelin A/S tires on them now, pretty good treads left.
Honestly if you are capable mechanically of changing out these mufflers, changing out suspension isn't too far out from a diy perspective IMO. Now otoh, if you're mechanically an idiot or one that messes up stuff all the time, I would leave it for the pro's.
I'd recommend at least looking at one of the several online diy suspension instructions first to gauge whether this is something you might want to attempt. You could always rent some additional tools like a spring compressor from Autozone for free or if you have a spare car, run the whole unit over to a mechanics garage and pay a nominal fee to have them remove/install the springs from the struts.
Also find a really good independent alignment shop. I found one close by that works on all sorts of regular and race cars and doesn't charge the "Porsche tax". Last time he only had to adjust the rears so he only charged me half the price.
I have looked at a few DIY how to's for the suspension and I am more than a little leery that it is something I want to tackle. When I assess a project I have a several step process:
1. Do I understand the instructions?
2. Do I own the tools necessary and/or are they obtainable at a cost that makes sense?
3. If I screw up, what's my downside?
4. Will I have a sense of accomplishment and/or save money that seems silly to spend.
For motor mounts and mufflers and mounting the wheels 1 and 2 are "yes" and I don't think I will screw it up. So 3 is less of a concern. And 4 is pretty prominent.
For the suspension stuff, I am not sure I understand it intuitively and I know I don't have some of the tools. And there are tons of cautions in the instructions warning about putting towels and pads places so if you mess up you don't screw up the paint, etc. So it seems like the downside is higher. I'm not sold that I can't do it but I am certainly leaning that way. 4 would def. come into play here.
Not all of us can be krazyk and rebuild an engine with a pack of band aids some used gum and the cardboard backing from a spiral notebook.
Nor do I want to be KK and try to push a DIY on someone that isn't comfortable either. There's also opportunity costs for some on these forums, so that also comes into play that some fail to recognize or understand.
Exactly. I would loooove to have some people nearby who would show me stuff like this. I have the spare time and inclination to learn but there is a point where having someone who has done it before show you is a million times better than any YouTube video could be. As a very senior guy at my old firm told me, experience matters.
Want to update this as I had a potential sale fall through because I was wrong about this. I had only ever really looked at the rears tread, those are 9 and are certainly pretty good.
The fronts are 5 though which are not what I would call "pretty good" treads. I don't want to mislead anyone.
I did the Fister D mod and it's awesome. Only issue, that I'm taking care of this week, is I now have a rattle in one of the tips. There's always something to do on a Porsche, mod or fix.
