Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My '99 Carrera Cabriolet revs up to about 1800 RPMs and immediately drops down to a reasonable level (maybe 1100 RPM) before settling down to 800 RPM to idle. On warm starts I don't have the problem. I cleaned the ICV (this car is pre-electronic throttle) thoroughly but that didn't change anything. Other than the brief high rev, it idles fine. Any ideas?

POST 3Original post

I have a 1999 C2 Cab and mine does that as well. Nothing to sweat about.

POST 5Original post

My 1970 911S with mechanical injection revved to 2.5k then 4k at cold start. I used to cringe. That was the correct setting for the hand throttle. If you didn't do that you risked a fire in the top of the air box, where the cold start injectors shot raw fuel into the open throttle bodies.

POST 7Original post

Mine also does this and has since I bought the car 2 years ago.

POST 8Original post

Same here...but, do you guys let the car get to normal idle before leaving the garage? I always do.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes, I get to normal idle fairly quickly.
