Even the buttons to adjust the mirrors seem to be covered in leather.

(although to be fair, it looks much better if the green is set off by black carpets and black steering wheel.)

First Boxster I ever test drove back in 96 was a silver/Nephrite.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A 996 I'm considering buying has leather
everywhere
. Even the buttons to adjust the mirrors seem to be covered in leather. Maybe this is listed in the option codes - I haven't translated them all yet, but it does for instance have XKL (speaker cover in leather). However, I've noticed that the option codes are sometime redundant - they will include both a package and a part of the package. So I'm wondering, if I find a car advertised with full leather (and if see a code for full leather in the option sticker), should I expect
all
of this?
Thanks for any insight into this!
My '99 Mk I cabrio has the "Supple Leather-F/R" option. Not sure what the non optional leather coverage might be, but mine has the following surfaces covered in leather:
>Seating surfaces-front and rear
>Dash-top and front facia
>Steering wheel rim
>Parking brake handle
>Interior door handles
In addition to the above, portions of the door panels and some rear compartment surfaces "may" be leather covered, too. But frankly, its a bit difficult to distinguish exactly which such surfaces are leather covered such is the amazing similarity between the leather covered and vinyl covered surfaces.

Supple leather and full leather are different options.
My C4S has the full leather option, and it includes: front and rear seats, dash, door panels, rear side panels, roof pillars, arm rest, glove compartment door, parking brake and shift ****.
Other options include: center console (mine only has the panels on each side covered in leather), speaker grilles, air vent slats and surrounds, and probably more that I'm missing.
I would include the "horseshoe" (radio/climate control surround) full console front and rear, overhead thingamabob from which the rearview mirror hangs, rearview mirror, coathooks on seatbacks, trunk release panel (left side) and the same door sill thingy on right side (not the actual sill, which is has a SS sill plate). That's all I can think of from my car. The headliner is Alcantara, but that's standard on Turbos. Can't remember what the Carrera headliner is.
Those are other options. 6ta1 is correct about the airbag cover too - it's an optional extra.
I've seen cars with leather sun visors too, but I'm not sure if that's an aftermarket addition or if it was an option from Porsche. It wouldn't surprise me if that was an option from Porsche. You can also get deviated stitching, which is really nice.
My 02 Turbo had the following Leather options:
Natural Grey Leather $1400
Full Leather Package $4900
Sport Seats w/ Full Leather Interior N/C
Then there is a column called Exclusive Options, and it includes:
Steering Column Leather Covered $315
3-Spoke Str. Wheel Lthr $565
Spt Seat Backs Lthr Crvd $1595
Inner Sill Parts/Release Lthr $540
Dome Lamp Cover Lthr $330
Also, Turbos are always touted as coming standard with "Full Leather." Under "Standard Equipment" it lists: Full Leather Seats.
So I really don't know exactly what the $4900 Full Leather Package is. I assume that includes the dash and door panels. My Boxster 550SE is "Full Leather" and it has the dash and door panels, but NOT the consoles front or rear, the speaker grills, the air vent slats, all of which are covered in my Turbo but not called out separately on the options list.
So I would guess that Full Leather Package in a Turbo consists of dash, door panels, vent slats, speaker grills and consoles. Seats are standard in Turbo, but probably are part of Full Leather Package in Carreras and Boxsters. And then all the other stuff I listed above is optional, even on Full Leather Package Turbos.
Oh, yeah, I just saw what Dennis said above about sun visors -- I forgot those. Mine are leather, but they're not called out on the options sheet, so they must be included in Full Leather Package. For the love of Pete, at 5 grand they ought to be!
The C4S also comes with full leather as a standard feature. It doesn't include the air vents, center console or airbag cover on the steering wheel. Mine has the optional airbag cover, plus the exclusive options of leather & aluminum parking brake handle and shifter ****. The package does include the alcantara head liner.
I've got the Natural Brown Leather option as well as the comfort seats with power lumbar support.
The list of options is really mind-boggling.
The porsche.com configurator distinguishes between Partial Leather and Leather Interior. (I assume that when someone says "Full Leather" = "Leather Interior" on the configurator)
I did some cutting and pasting and here is a graphic I made:
Note: all the red (boxes and dots) is what both the partial leather and full leather have in common. This was done today, so it must be fore 2014 Porsche 911 C4 Standard Sport Seats.
^^ Yeah, as you can see from my list above, those options totalled to $9600 or so. If you were doing that to a Carrera, which doesn't have as much standard leather as a Turbo, it would be even more. And I have stainless options on shifter and brake lever -- if those were leather that would run it up a little more.
Is that what it's called, 'Nephrite'? I have no idea. I call it 'alien spaceship green'
It's definitely a love-it-or-hate-it-color. It's the reason I bought the car.
Shame on you! Call it by the right name! That's a color to be proud of!
(although to be fair, it looks much better if the green is set off by black carpets and black steering wheel.)
