Just sharing this with those who are using hardtops to be careful of this piece.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Decided to pop the hardtop on the cab in advance of expected rainy season here. The driver's side rear post would not 'click' when turning the locking wrench. Not wanting to force the turn, I inspected the mounting hole. It turns out that the driver's side has a small life saver shaped ring which is the electrical connection for the rear defroster. Somehow, this had popped loose and was impeding the full seating of the post. So just had to snap this back in with a screwdriver and all was good.
Just sharing this with those who are using hardtops to be careful of this piece. I can see someone just wrenching on the bayonet mount just to try to have the mechanism 'click'.
JWEX16 On Ebay right now with only 22 hours left no bids on a black one (if this would suffice) starting at $79.99 .. I would be tempted if I could get it at under a couple of hundred Dollars. Hell you could buy an artic silver if one comes around in the future and re sell the black one. In PA if that's handy for you. Place called Orrtanna, West of Gettysburg. Nice drive out lol.

Silver starting at $350 North Carolina

The last one looks like your best bet .. Again a nice drive out to Raleigh NC 401 Miles or 6 and a half hours. Buy it now only $550.. .
The black one is still 79.99 and no bids with 20 mins left. That's a great buy and would be ok with an artic silver car. At that price for sure.

It had scrapes... 10 minutes left.. you could get a body shop to spray it all artic silver for a couple of hundred dollars.
Well it sold for 79-99 to one bidder. Missed a golden opportunity in my eyes.
