I'll probably use the existing 17" wheels for all season tires so I can drive it in colder weather (but not snow), and do an 18" upgrade for summer tires.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Greetings ... I've been lurking a while, reading up while looking for a 996. A well respected local shop recently advertised a 996 cab in Mirage. "Beige?," I exclaim. "Beige?" "Who the @#$%&*! paints a 911 beige ?" So I go look at the car. It has about 60k miles, looks pretty well cared for, and the color (really, more champagne than beige) is growing on me. I go back for a test drive, the car checks out, so now I'm thinking of making a deal. The shop gets into my ballpark on price, and agrees to do IMS, RMS, AOS, new clutch, and a new flywheel. Next thing I know, I'm writing a check. I picked up the car last Friday and haven't stopped smiling yet. I haven't stopped driving long enough to take some good pictures, so I've attached a couple of the dealer's. My only modification so far was a pumpkinectomy. I'll be rearranging the center stack to accommodate a double DIN nav unit ... I have the nav unit and just ordered an installation kit from Car Audio Innovations. I'll probably use the existing 17" wheels for all season tires so I can drive it in colder weather (but not snow), and do an 18" upgrade for summer tires. And that'll be about it. At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. And as for my initial reluctance regarding the color, I have embraced Mirage. Call me ... The King of Beige.

POST 5Original post

Congrats. My Cayenne is Jarama Beige and it is probably the same color. It too looks Champagne.

POST 6Original post

Very nice. I'll take a beige exterior w/ your interior over any exterior with one of those god-awful dyed leather interior colors that look good for about 2 weeks before the sun turns them all to crap. I bet it hides a little dust well, too. Black, not so much. Enjoy the car! Nice job getting all of the TLA (three-letter acronym) repairs done as part of the deal.

POST 7Original post

Newbie to newbie - welcome. I like the beige color. We've seen black, silver, blue but your car stands out.

Nice to see yet another member joining the Porsche fold. Good looking cab.

POST 9Original post

Hello everyone, I am about to buy a 996 coupe 02 C2 with 25000 original miles from a friend, he bought it new and nothing was done on it other than regular oil change. Owner had no problems with it. It has a little rattle coming from the rear left other than that the car drives like a brand new one. Should I be concern about anything , IMS, RMS...)!?

Short answer, yes. Main issue with 25K miles..IMS

POST 11Original post

Nice Cab. My first Porsche, back in the late eighties was a champagne '83 944. Boy did I have fun in that Porsche. Enjoy.

POST 12Original post

Technically the car color is Paladio Metallic Porsche #554, also referred to as Mirage Metallic. My 99 C2 is the same color and it really does change with various light levels. I think it is a beautiful color. http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au...es_porsche.htm
