Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Remove air intake tube, remove air pump, remove drivers side motor mount, loosen passenger side mount and allow engine to lower a bit, disconnect all hoses from expansion tank, disconnect T hose connection near rear of the bar (I broke the nipple on this and had to repair), and finally disconnect both fuel lines...

By replacing the coolant (lifted rear end to fill/ purge after draining coolant from the drain plug) I refilled with 30% Pentosin G12 coolant, and 70% distilled water.

The temp gauge used to sit right in the center of the two middle marks, it seems to be running slightly cooler now with the new mix.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good thing I had some time off this week from work. As you might've read In a seperate thread, my expansion tank failed a few days ago. While I was waiting for the wife to bring home a new tank from Porsche of Honolulu, along with a bunch of Pentosin G12 coolant I decided to install these rennline pedals. While doing that I removed the clutch assist spring. Removing this made a huge difference, while the clutch is harder to press now, you can actually "feel" the grabbing point. This made a world of difference in what I always considered a vague clutch feel (even with a brand new clutch) Now to the dirty work: To remove the old tank i found the following made it much easier: Remove air intake tube, remove air pump, remove drivers side motor mount, loosen passenger side mount and allow engine to lower a bit, disconnect all hoses from expansion tank, disconnect T hose connection near rear of the bar (I broke the nipple on this and had to repair), and finally disconnect both fuel lines... I tried to just push these a little out of the way, but ended up with a ruptured fuel line I had to repair due to not disconnecting them. After today I now have a non leaking coolant system, prettier interior, and a more responsive clutch pedal. By replacing the coolant (lifted rear end to fill/ purge after draining coolant from the drain plug) I refilled with 30% Pentosin G12 coolant, and 70% distilled water. I also added 2 bottles of water wetter to the mix. This has been the result from driving around today: The temp gauge used to sit right in the center of the two middle marks, it seems to be running slightly cooler now with the new mix. Now the car just needs a bath, there is dried up sweat all over the rear of the car from me trying to wiggle out the old expansion tank for hours. Like I said, do what I didn't do... Remove as much as you can first, it'll make your life easier.
