Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Change oil every year/5k , do oil analysis with black stone and inspect filter for metal.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hello finally. Joined in Dec but was reluctant to post because I did just about everything wrong you can do when I bought my "04 996 C2 Cab but didn't want to admit it. The car was TMU just for starters but my "after purchase inspection" (I know) shows the odometer to be accurate at 37K or so based on engine hours...now has 39.6K. The left cat started rattling 3 weeks after I bought it so I replaced them with Fabspeed sport cats. The air filter was polluted so I replaced it with a K&N FIPK kit. New tires, brakes, rotors and the RMS seal is only seeping as dealer put it. I've read where you guys aren't too keen on dealer inspection but mine was very thorough right down to a torn liner thats downer inside the car and a broken flap that covers a gap when the top is retracted assembly...not sure what its actually called but didn't even know it was there. Also my first question....this is a very basic C2 but one of the options listed is a "touring suspension" option...is this bad or good? I've a lot of the IMS stuff but frankly I'm now into this car way more than what I thought I saved by buying it as TMU (true miles unknown) so am reluctant to tear into it as the car seems fine at this point. Anyway thanks in advance for all the great stuff you guys post on here and I'll try to keep up!
I did the post purchase inspection too.
The PPI revealed two things I didn't catch. First was the bearing whine that I thought was a wheel bearing turned out to be in the transmission. The transmission is getting rebuilt now. If you are reading this and have not followed the transmission fluid maintenance schedule, transmission fluid is cheaper than bearings and removing the transmission and reinstalling it. At least the clutch will be new. Second was the engine was replaced in '05. That means it has only 22k on it. This was uncovered when the IMS bearing was removed to install a Tuners Motorsports Direct Oil Feed and only one bearing came out.
Now I'm wondering if the replacement engine came with plugs and coils. If they have 22k on them they don't need to be changed.
Nice intro and cab. Looking back to 2006 when a PPI was performed on my 99', anyone could have done the same; brakes 50%, tires 40%, broken center console latch, etc. The hot topic then was RMS, period. No regrets after almost 7 years and 30k additional miles. Welcome to Rennlist.
Welcome to the forum, Dave. You purchased a really nice looking Cab. Seal grey and are those 17" wheels
My friend Rolf has a similar car with the same wheels. I'm gonna try and talk him into having his polished like yours. How about some pics of the interior
If you are not in there anyway to do clutch etc. you could wait on ims. Install ims guardian is cheap insurance. Change oil every year/5k , do oil analysis with black stone and inspect filter for metal. I waited two years to do ims on mine .. Now I have rms leak and clutch close to end of life i'm going to do it .. We'll see what the old one looks like when I pull it out ....
Thanks for the kind replies. The wheels are part# 99636212402. I actually live kinda near this car's originating dealer. They claim these wheels are avail chromed and that's how the car was delivered but you guys probably know more than me. I didn't think Porsche chromed any of their wheels. The color is listed as Atlas Grey. More Pics when the thunderstorms stop here.
