Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

53 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

sold my tt back to the dealer. I dont think I will by a p again. they handle like a 300 pound gorilla on a tricycle on ice

POST 3Original post

You're better off without it - it obviously wasn't the car for you. Bye - please close the door behind you.

POST 4Original post

won't "by" again? Oh well. Good luck with your next passion. I guess with the right suspension and maybe some Blizzaks....that Gorilla could really cruise on the ice.

POST 5Original post

I guess he wasn't man enough.....P's always get the best reviews for handling, so I don't understand the post!

POST 6Original post

Quotes source post: 4683047

Yeah, I've never had any handling problems with my car - sticks to the road like a dream, responsive steering - what more could you want?

POST 7Original post

A quick look at his posting history tells the tale. Fuhgeddaboudit.

POST 8Original post

Well, it's not for everyone. I hope you'll be happy going with a non-P car, since you prefer the handling of a 600 lb gorrilla on a tricycle on ice. Me, I'd take the 300 lb one.

POST 9Original post

Wait, you sold it back to the dealer, or they gave you your money back? How did this story end?

POST 10Original post

Got picked up on the flat bed by night. Oh well I would be bitter too

POST 11Original post

What did you expect? He's from Rhode Island! Why did they call it that? It isn't even an island!

POST 12Original post

Quotes source post: 4683197

That's what I was thinking - 300 lbs is pretty light for a gorilla.

POST 13Original post

I can understand his frustration with the problems he had, but to complain about the car's handling is ridiculous. I’m going to go out on a limb and say this poseur never has been to a DE.

POST 14Original post

Quotes source post: 4682849

What an asinine post. No one car is for everyone, but this uneducated comment about the Turbo speaks volumes about its owner.

POST 15Original post

If anyone else is disappointed with their turbo and wants to give it away I will gladly take the 300lb gorilla off your hands. We don't get much ice in South Texas...

POST 16Original post

Can anyone say Repo? I'll also pay wholesale or under if anyone has a Turbo they want to hand back.

POST 17Original post

You seem like a nice guy, go buy a nice car, one that your mother would like.

POST 19Original post

sold my tt back to the dealer. I dont think I will by a p again. they handle like a 300 pound gorilla on a tricycle on ice I'm try to understand this...I think I got it! We have a 911tt that must be the tricycle We have ice that must be the relationship between the road and the 911tt (traction) The owner must of been some fat ugly 300 pound gorilla See being so big, he never fit in his seat (just squeezed in) and thinking himself as a gorilla.... 1) had no throttle control 2) he sold it back to a dealer, I think bottom of the barrel on the IQ chart

POST 20Original post

For almost 50 years of people claiming the 911 is one of the greatest sports cars EVER and for over 30 years, the 911 Turbo has been at the TOP of the 911/Porsche line. Someone FINALLY comes along and has the courage to speak out and tell the truth. Oh, I have been waiting for this day. We have been saved!! The anti-Porsche Messiah has arrived. We can all sell these 300LB ice-skates that Porsche is trying to pass off as cars. How have they done it for so long?? Think im gonna go buy an M6!!! I'll prolly keep it till the anti-BMW messiah comes along!!

POST 21Original post

Quotes source post: 4684639

.... PLUS, it was a 996, and we all know that those are not real Porsches!

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 4682849

"They handle like a 300 lb gorilla on a tricycle on ice" or you drive one like a 5 lb monkey in a cowboy suit riding a dog like a pony? I mean, inquiring minds want to know. -td

POST 24Original post

Quotes source post: 4684967

I believe the latter

POST 25Original post

Ok ok, enough. Lets give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I mean, maybe he's gonna buy a Lambo or a Ferrari, or maybe even a Bugatti. If that's the case, I'd be saying the same thing about my trashy POS Porsche!! So what is it OP'r, what kinda car you gonna replace your POS Porsche with, that will out-handle/out-perform it?

Quotes source post: 4685578

F1 car? 5.5 G's right? That should cure the handling blues.

POST 30Original post

This guy had a really horrible experience with his car. Cut him a break!

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 4686126

So right you are!! I once had a bad experience with a dead hooker, but I've since learned, not ALL dead hookers are bad.

POST 32Original post

I hear the new Camry is great , especially for someone who obviously doesn't understand what a 911 ia all about! No doubt your dealer took care of you $ wise.

POST 33Original post

Quotes source post: 4682849

Lets give the guy a break like Todd said. We've had our fun. I happen to have a small program that my company developed that reads between the lines in an html script. You simply input the text and it processes what was really meant by the author. I put the above text in and this is what was processed. "I had the Porsche Twin Turbo for 2 days when I took it out to show off to my buddies - nearly flipped the thing at 130 on a clover leaf and soiled myself. Thank goodness the p-dealer had a 3 day money back guarantee because I'm too scared to go within 100 feet of the thing".

POST 34Original post

Skating 300lb gorillas handle very well, so what's your point.

Yeah, and another time you had a bad experience with a German U-Boat, but you still bought two Porsches after that!

Todd, maybe a few here know the whole story, but I don't. Care to enlighten me?

No kidding, and don't believe the line, "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas." It doesn't cover the outlying counties...

POST 40Original post

R-E-P-O. HIS SCREEN NAME SAYS IT ALL.............. SILLY

POST 41Original post

Quotes source post: 4686754

Hey what are the odds that you would find a video of a skating 300 lb gorilla - I mean really! And you're right - he handles just fine.

POST 42Original post

I think sillsix has forgotten to put the >>>> after his line. He must have been kidding. I mean I p-car doesn't have to be your cup of tea, but how can you possibly say that the car doesn't handle well?? I don't think he (or many of us) are ever able to ride the P to it's limits....imagine driving a Turbo. If you are afraid of engine problems, or any other maintenance problems I understand...it is one of the reasons I am not driving a Ferrari or Lambo. Most of us could probably buy one (finance/lease) but the maintenance would kill me. Well he achieved one think with this thread....he united us

https://rennlist.com/forums/showpost...1&postcount=16 He bought a 6 year-old semi-exotic without any CPO. Now, I don't know if he took it to a qualified technician for a PPI but something about the story sounds like a recipe for disaster. Also, he overpaid for the car.

The Name (Rhode Island) This state was named by Dutch explorer Adrian Block. He named it "Roodt Eylandt" meaning "red island" in reference to the red clay that lined the shore. The name was later anglicized when the region came under British rule. Source: Shearer, Benjamin F. and Barbara S. State Names, Seals, Flags and Symbols Greenwood Press, Westport, Connecticut 1994 P.S. I do not think a 996 TT is characterized by bad handling, relatively speaking. This individual clearly is challenged and/or is withholding important relevant facts. I believe his intent was the response he received.

If you look at his other posts, he bought a low mileage car without a warranty then had expensive problems with it. He is blowing off some steam. Can't blame him for that, I guess. I would be pissed too.
