Should I just run the wires from the working side to the other (i.e., in paralel) or is there a better way to do this.

I would think that if I could find this out it would be a simple mod to wire them both up to work without having to run wires through (and accross) the engine compartment.

Suggestion

Just run the wires through the engine compartment from the working socket/bulb to the non working socket -- and add the bulb.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I posted a few weeks back about this but still haven't got anywhere with it. I want to wire up the "other" fog lamp so both of them come on. Should I just run the wires from the working side to the other (i.e., in paralel) or is there a better way to do this. A wiring diagram would be soooooo appreciated.

POST 2Original post

Yes. Just run the wires through the engine compartment from the working socket/bulb to the non working socket -- and add the bulb. I'm sure you've already heard all the reasons NOT to do this...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Loren, I have heard some reasons ( I guess controversial reasons) but is there any technical reasons whey I should not do this? Also, it seems in my car at least, both sides are wired up. They even both have bulbs in. However only one side works (or has power suppled). So I basically wanted to know where in the loom the right or left side is chosen as the rear fog lamp depending on LHD or RHD car. I would think that if I could find this out it would be a simple mod to wire them both up to work without having to run wires through (and accross) the engine compartment. Thanks once again, for your help.

POST 4Original post

Loren, what if Scouser fits the two fog lamps but uses the weaker power bulb, they produce fader light instead of the bright fog bulb (much like the brake bulb).. would that be more convenient for others' safety? Wael

POST 5Original post

JMHO, but I would think that a flashing rear fog light(s) would even send a better warning in the fog than a steady light(s), ...similar to emergency lights only brighter.
