Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Replace tranny fluid three weeks ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace oil' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I used Coastal Synthetic 75W-90 that I bought at Advance Auto Parts.

Suggestion
So the traction control never went on (on the on ramp) before you changed the oil?

I am planning to change the tranny fluid on my C4S.

Suggestion
The front differential also use 75w90 fluid, but that doesn't make it a transmission.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I replaced my tranny fluid three weeks ago to get smoother shifting. I used 75W90 synthetic in both the front and rear transmission and now the shifting is much better. However, the front wheels have started to give me a quick shutter when I accel onto on-ramps and I will get the 'Traction Control' light (triangle w/! in the middle) for a split second. Is this a result of the new fluid that I put in the F/R tranny? I would think that it is just the front tranny that is being effected. Would adding Limited Slip Modifiers (additive) solve my problem?
I am not sure exactly how the front tranny works but I read:
'Power distribution and wheel speed compensation between the front and rear axles is realised with a viscous multiple-disc clutch.'
it is a viscous liquid coupling. Its a thick liquid that is very sensitive to temperature... the bigger difference in F/R shaft speed, the more friction is created on the liquid... as it heats up, the liquid solidifies... hence the awd drive.
So the traction control never went on (on the on ramp) before you changed the oil? Wierd, the coupling should be a sealed unit... the oil is there for the gearing to the front shaft...
That is correct, the light never came on before. I am also wondering if I maybe didn't fill my rear tranny all the way up with gear oil since it was a PITA to fill and difficult to tell if it was full or not.
I am glad you mentioned that the coupling is a sealed unit and should have nothing to do with the lack of Friction Modifiers in my tranny fluid since the car shifts sooo much better now.
Just to clarify, you only have one transmission. The front differential also use 75w90 fluid, but that doesn't make it a transmission.
Was it cold out? Perhaps you were just pushing cold tires too hard and they started slipping?
PS--For the record, I just stick with the factory fluids to avoid this kind of doubt.
I had my FWD and tranny oil changed maybe a year ago and I don't have any of the symptoms of your car. I don't have an LSD and no friction modifier was added to the fluid.
The VC center diff works by having non-touching plates spinning next to each other. As the fluid shears it gets thicker and transmits force to adjoining plates. The gearing is set up so that there is always a slight speed differential so no less than 5% is transferred to the FWD at all times.
If the traction/PSM light comes on, doesn't that mean that there is a problem with wheelspin and/or yaw? I would take it to get looked at, might be more than just a transmission oil issue.
75W-90 might have a viscosity a bit too high for most modern day cars.
The center diff'l in my '01 AWD RX300 runs in ATF and the PTO, Power Take-Off, and VC, Viscous Clutch, run in a specially formulated fluid only available through Toyota.
