Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Wouldn't change my C2 for anything less that a good deal on a GT3 or a 996TT.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This morning I had some senior management come in to Dubai and arranged a tour of the newly built Autodrome circuit in Dubai. Was trying to rent a Gallardo, unsuccessful. Porsche ME came through and provided a 2005 tiptronic 997 Carrera S. Some non-judgemental thoughts after driving it for 4 laps on the circuit: Very luxurious interior. A lot of electronic wizardry keeping the car planted through corners, especially when compared to my C2 (no PSM), while obviously very easy to drive, probably not as fun as mine. More secure, and forgiving when u make mistakes. Tiptronics are no fun on tracks in that they can upshift or downshift of their own accord through a bend and alter the balance of the car. I have PSE on mine, and this sounded tame without an exhaust, albeit louder stock than mine, but definetely screaming for an exhaust. I was expecting a lot more speed at the end of the straight, top speed was around 195km before braking for a blind right hander, which was what I managed in my car on a previous track day!! Was at least expecting 205km. Overall great car, guess the experience was good for me in that I no longer have any dreams of upgrading to one anytime soon! Wouldn't change my C2 for anything less that a good deal on a GT3 or a 996TT. The difference just isn't that great. There is a difference but not justified on my budget. Hope no one takes any offense , the 997 is awesome but it costs around 90USD grand loaded. I paid around 50k for mine with 30,000 clicks on it (practically brand new), and am sure I am getting 90% of the pleasure for 50% of the cost. Of course if money was no object I'd have a 6speed black on black Carrera S please. Forgot to add the Ceramic brakes were awesome, and i am told these are the second generation version with none of the problems that afflicted previous 996 GT2 and GT3 owners, Porsche bought the supplier SKL who manufactured the ceramic brakes for them to ensure consistent quality. Cheers.

You are right on dubai...No way a 997 is worth the money compared to our 996's. A GT3 yes, and yes if money was there to be tossed around I would get blk/blk 997s until the 997 gt3 came out!!!!!!!!!!!! Robert
