Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I *totally* thought that the C4S replaced the C4 in 2002 as well.
Leading evidence: 'Replace c4 in 2002 as well' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace c4 in 2002 as well' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I thought there was no MkII Carrera 4. But take a look at this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...US_Cars_Trucks
It has silver calipers. No pics of the frunk to verify its AWD. Carrera 4 badge on the back looks correct. So, did they make a MkII C4?
Then I see another one on eBay, also a tip cab, and I thought "WTF, am I a newb or something?"
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-...US_Cars_Trucks
But upon further review, it is clearly a C2. Still confused about the first one though.
Yes. I remembered reading the production numbers in Adrian's "The Essential Companion"
The C4 was made from '02-'04 along with the C4S.
In '02 there were no C4S cabs produced. All cabs were C4.
In '03, C4 production was about 4K and C4S production was about 8K.
But by 2004, there were only a couple hundred C4s made while the C4S production numbered around 9K.
I am hiding my face in shame. I see it in your guys' signature lines. How did I never run across one for sale before? I searched "for sale" listings for 2 years for all years and variants of 996 before I bought my '99 C4, then I've watched them regularly since just keeping up with the market. I've seen mistakes in ads, like the second one listed above, but never seen an actual Mk II C4 narrow body. Regardless of the badging on the engine cover, the silver calipers and top hat in the frunk are dead giveaways that it is a C4. But, I thought they were all C4S models once the Mk II came out.
So, call me a dufus, ignore all future posts by me as having unreliable info and convert this to a boobie thread!
No, C4 coupes and cabs were both sold in the US from '02-'04.
Almost true. C4S cabs were sold by Porsche in 2003 also, but not in the US.
Again, this info is taken from Adrian Streather's "The Essential Companion".
I think what Gasspasser was saying is that c4 cabs were the only ones offered in NB from '02-'04. Where as all the coupes(C4S) from '02- was WB.
That is correct if you're talking outside of US, but then again US is always 1 year behind hence the confusion sometimes when peeps mention '98 996 for example.
I'm getting confused here. We may be saying the same thing, but I can't tell.
So, to see if we can communicate better, I will try it a different way.
According to the "Companion", in 2002 and 2003 Porsche imported C4 coupes & C4 cabs (narrow body), and C4S coupes (wide body). No C4S cabs were imported. Apparently you could get your AWD coupe in NB or WB.
In 2004, Porsche imported C4 coupes & cabs (NB), and C4S coupes & cabs (WB).
PS, In another place in the same book, it would seem to indicate that C4 coupes (NB) were not sold in the US in 2002 and 2003, and that only C4S coupes were sold here. So, now I don't really know what is correct......
A professional acquaintance recently bought a 2002 996 C4 cab - and I called BS. Then I saw it, and sure enough there it was.
I *totally* thought that the C4S replaced the C4 in 2002 as well.
You're not the only one.
