Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

It worked "pretty good" a la Larry David.

No unique explicit quoted action; no causal link assigned

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I had some leftover paint in my Dr. Colorchip kit and tackled my scratched up, 15 year old twists (17", boo) yesterday. I figured I had nothing to lose because I was going to Plasti Dip them if it did't turn out. Anyway - and this might be a big DUH - the paint is a very close match to the wheel color. Enough to fill in some very ugly curb marks and deep gouges. I went sanded with 2000 before painting, then used an aggressive cleaner wax afterwards. Wheels look a lot better. So if you have some arctic silver kicking around, and are stuck with your original old wheels like me, give it a shot. Dave

Hey Dave, any pictures of your DIY on the wheels? Would love to see how it turned out! -Luccia

POST 3Original post

I hate to assume but since you had arctic silver Dr color chip lying around, did you use it on an arctic silver car? If so, how did it turn out on the car? I have a couple spots but worry about the match. It looks great on darker cars but curious about results on silver paint.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

baRHbz4.jpg vbyWP46.jpg A couple of relatively-close up shots of the rears, which were the worst. Some of the minor stuff is more or less hidden unless your face is up to the wheel inspecting it. I had a couple ugly, deep, and long gouges (most from PO or from me being forced into curbs...love driving in DC) that are now not noticeable from 5 feet or so. Or maybe unless your eyes are better than mine. Is it perfect? Not by a long shot. Is it much better? Absolutely. I did have the arctic silver from use on my car. It worked "pretty good" a la Larry David. Again not perfect, but better than before. I walked around it quickly while taking wheel pics to see if I could locate where I had touched up (I can't remember, did it last year) and I couldn't find them.
