Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

2003 Cab, forest green/grey, hard top, painted center console, htd seats. These are the only options that I know of, haven't seen the car yet. 41K miles on it, negotiated price is $48K from an individual. Warranty service history looks great, just three minor things and the seat recall. Don't know about non-warranty service yet, two-owner car although current owner has had it only 4 months and is selling due to financial hardship. Pictures look OK, I assume normal wear and tear for the mileage. Haven't done PPI yet. Options are: C02 M6P P11 P74 XME XSC X70 X71 Y06 342 411 446 476 551 680 Factory warranty until 02/18/07. My local dealer salesman thinks the price is too high for the miles, but then again, he wants to sell me one of his cars... What think the wizards here? Thanks, Michael ------------- 993 (gone) 964 (gone)

POST 2Original post

Keep in mind that many people believe that it's perfectly OK to say anything to sell a car. So with that in mind, the four month ownership is of some concern to me. A PPI by a qualified Porsche mechanic is essential. As far as the price is concerned, it's right in the ball park for a moderately equipped '03 Cab in good condition with 41K miles.

POST 3Original post

I would say it's priced well, but not spectacular. I think the color alone would bring down the value vs. a comparably equipped cab that was silver, seal gray, black, or white. The demand is higher for these neutral colors, so you get more potential buyers. But the hard top is a plus. Also, does it have xenons? That was a deal breaker for me. I bought the following from an orig owner, private party: 2003 Cab, 35K mi., xenon, heated seats, seal gray, black leather, CD Changer, $51,500. I am in the Los Angeles area and prices run higher here. I don't think I got a spectacular deal either, but I like the fact that there's still a year/15K on the warranty and it had all the options I wanted.

POST 4Original post

I just looked at an 03 coupe, black on black, 9k miles, certified at local Porsche dealer and they were asking 52k. no takers but I suspect they would take 48k without the extended warranty. if interested, call Ali @ reeves imports (actual porsche dealer) [phone removed]. Good luck

POST 5Original post

See...now if only I could find one like that but a year older, and 4 times the mileage for high 30s low 40s...

POST 6Original post

I think it is a fair price. As for the color, I love Rain Forest Green. I do not think that it brings down the price. It might make it harder to sell, but on the other hand it is harder to find if that is what you want. I purchased my 02 in January of this year with 27,000 for $49,500...so I think yours is at the right price, especialy if you want this color...might take you a while to find again. Good luck and be sure to get a PPI.

POST 7Original post

Sounds like a good price. But what is getting me is that he is suffering a financial hardship after just 4 months of ownership. Something doesn't add up.

POST 8Original post

But what is getting me is that he is suffering a financial hardship after just 4 months of ownership. Something doesn't add up It's interesting how cynical some of us have become after reading about some of the horror stories on this forum, and personal experiences we've had buying cars. I'm to the point now where I essentially disregard anything that is told to me by a seller unless I can substantiate it.

POST 9Original post

100% concur. Personally, I hear somebody say they are suffering a financial hardship just 4 short months after ownership and I smell B.S. and would probably be spot on to assume there is something to the car the buyer didn't realize he was getting into and wants to unload it to somebody else.

POST 10Original post

Could have found out how much tires, brakes, and clutch was going to cost him

POST 11Original post

Sadly, you can add me to the list of the fellows who smell bulls--t in that statement. Be very thorough in your inspection of the car, and don't be ashamed to negotiate downwards based on the fact that he's flipping the car so fast. Trust me, 80% of the potential buyers out there won't touch this car simply based on the 4 months of ownership. There's no reason you should not use this fact to your advantage.
