Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey all! While waiting for my new alternator to come in, I found out my local shop wanted $2100+ to change my AOS that was starting to leak (and therefore couldn't pass a tech inspection last weekend). Did a search and found I could do it by dropping the engine, or removing the top of the engine. I decided to remove the stuff on top of the engine. Started at 1pm, and had it all out by 5. Took a bit longer since I was looking at a writeup for a different style AOS (mine has 2 bolts from the top, others have it on the side). Anyway, was quite messing in there. But it was SO easy to get to. Didn't remove the coolant res. And I didn't have to go UNDER the car either. One little mishap though. Broke the coolant connector while throwing my ape arms in and out of the engine bay... wondering if I can't just use a regular connector there instead of the $22 OEM part...? Have the new stuff on order, and will clean it all up till then!

POST 2Original post

Been there, done that. Do not replace that plastic piece with another plastic piece. Get a brass hose coupler from Ace, Lowes, Home Depot, local auto parts store and two SS worm clamps. Use the remaining plastic piece as a bracket to zip tie the completed coupling and hose. It's a forever fix.
