Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi gang
Had an "interesting" afternoon today with a rear tyre on my 04 C4S going pop ... at 100km/h on the freeway. Hit a cat's eye and the tyre went bang. Suffiice it to say I wasn't entirely calm. See the photo of a wrecked P Zero.
Good thing it's a long weekend here in Victoria, Australia, so none of the tyre shops were open this afternoon
which has put paid to the driving plans I had.
So ... recommendations? We're hot climate here, so looking for suggestions for a good road tyre - no track. Do I just load up on more P Zero's?
Cheers,
S.
Sidewalls like to decay when sitting a long time since its the thinest and less prone to receive rubber nutrients from thicker areas. Good reason to drivethe car more often. I've had tires that were new when leaving town and a year later of sitting the sidewalls were getting cracks. It was high performance bike tires non the less that are gummy so you'ld figure they'd be juicy enough to last.
Ride safe and check em out often.
Is that a re-thread tire mate? Check out the others. If ones bad then the others are most likely to fail soon. Your life depends on brakes and tires. (Thats the correct way to spell tires anyway where I come from in the UK) I hear Hankooks are a good tire to use. Thats what I intend using when my change comes up. (I have them on another vehicle not porshe) and they didn't half quieten the road sound and made the steering real precise).

Same thing happen to me about 8 years ago on my 944S. It felt a bit weird when making turns, then when I was going down a nice straight road at 65mph, boom. Looks just like that, shredded sidewalls. I later found a nail in the tread; it must have gone flat and the flexing caused the sidewall failure. At least it was the rear tire and not the front.
5 years is very old for these types of tyres. You can push them to 4 years if you dont keep the car outdoors. 3 years is the max I keep them.
As for replacements... If they are available in Australia, the Hankook Ventus V12 is an excellent street tire at a very good price.
