I was at the dealer yesterday and they had an '05 GT3 with 9k kms, never tracked...original owner bought it for the looks only but it turned out to be too "harsh" for him.
Leading evidence: 'too "harsh"' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'too "harsh"' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

This car seems to be a GREAT deal!!! 4k miles, 1 owner, nicely optioned 2003 C4S for $57k

With SO MANY people looking at C4S's, this one stands out!!
No affiliation, just wanted to pass along.
Ya know, just some old guy with 5 cars. Prolly travels and doesn't have the time to drive it more than every other weekend. It happens with P's, Ferraris, Lambos etc....
True, true... I was at the dealer yesterday and they had an '05 GT3 with 9k kms, never tracked...original owner bought it for the looks only but it turned out to be too "harsh" for him.

I have absolutely NO idea.
Price is great, but I'd sure want that car PPI'd before putting a cent down on it. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
PPI for sure, extended warranty NO QUESTION!! With the title/carfax being clean and NO issues on a one owner, this car is simply a stellar, freaking deal!!!
I disagree with what others say, that P's are more likely to have probs when they sit. If properly cared for, oil-changed ever 1.5 years, kept dry (for the most part) engine kept clean etc... and driven on a regular, albeit rare occasion, I think it's like getting a brand-new car.
I just don't see evidence that a 4 year old car with 4k miles is likely to have more probs/maintenance costs than if it had 50k miles. There's a reason why they hold their value so strongly with LOW LOW/NO NO miles.
Gant - Thank you! Obviously, I agree with your logic. Now remember to support me when comes time for me to sell mine! You just know the miles will be low. Not that I plan to anytime soon, but who knows...
To give me a great deal on a car!!!
Got my car with zippo miles and half the sticker price.
Old guys with too many cars are my fave.
Women and young drivers are the ones I mostly steer clear of....either neglected or abused/raced respectively.
How do you know it's been sitting around? The person may simply take it out on the weekends for a nice 25 mile drive. He probably took VERY good care of it, just simply didn't drive it everywhere.
Minimal wear/tear + one owner car = HUGE bonus for 2nd owner.
Ya, uhm, no it's not. Its a 2003 with 4k miles, 1 owner, optioned well. Why does everyone think, if you can get any turbo for close to that price, it's a bad deal?
You have to compare a Turbo from 2003 with 4k miles and 1 owner, well optioned (similar cars), the turbo will be $80k or more!!!!!
Don't you get it?
No, in fact if the car is what it's advertised to be, an '03 C4S, with 4K miles, very well optioned at <$60K is an absolute steal. That's why it needs to be scrutinized VERY closely.
yeah I might have to agree with that to the extent that a dry sump engine does seem like a much better deal when you are coughing up north of $50k.
Seeing a Pcar with this kind of mileage seems like a rarity no matter what kind of engine there is inside. So who knows how to fairly price it.
But I've seen 02 996TTs going for under $60K with less than 30K miles.
If you could live with a tip and some wood trim, saw one go without a single bid on eBay for $55K...tip or not still a spotless beautiful Lapis blue/Tan with BBS for less than a price of new CaymanS or well optioned BoxsterS.
Phil: With all due respect, can not understand why someone will spend significant monies on a car, own it for three to four years, only put 4k miles, then sell it for peanuts. I may may be more understanding if the owner would plan to own it for a longer time and use it only as a recreational vehicle. Things like this actually hurts the resale value of these cars for other owners who may have the exact same car but with more miles. Just my opinion.
Yeah, you know, it's more complicated than that.
I've put 4500 miles on my car in 18 months (more than Phil, certainly, but then again, we know Phil...), and it's just a hard car to have if you have to move more than one or two people. Plus, in LA, you can't hardly drive the damn thing without traffic.
I'm amazed I've put as many miles as I have...
It's OK - I'd keep the car just to look at it in the driveway as I pull out in the BMW every day.
I thiink what Manny is saying is, it's one thing to get the car and barely drive it, but then; why the hell would he sell it so cheap.
The simple answer may be, he can only get $55k trade it on it, and he wants to get a few more G's on the open-market and either doesn't have time to sell it, or doesn't want the headache. Even if it IS worth $65k private-party, he knows it will move fast at $57k
Now, as far as buying a nice car, and only putting 1k miles on a year. The buyer may travel, or be driven in a limo to work (in new york) and work LONG hours as a lawer, and just want a Porsche to drive on Sundays for a few hours.
If you ask me, this is the smartest way to go, it prolongs the life of the car, keeps the price higher (less depreciation) and the owner still gets to own, drive, look at, enjoy, collect, admire etc...the car, for years to come.
Tim, looks like some folks are asking! You know that for me, it's a thrill to own it and just knowing it's mine to drive on weekends or on a beautiful spring evening does it for me. If that feeling leaves me, I'll unload it. I've had collector cars in the past that I literally drove ~20 miles/year. At least I do drive the 4S - just not much!
My 2003 just turned over 7,000 miles and that took some work to get to recently. I think what happens to a lot of folks is a combination of work and the Porsche not being the primary vehicle. Even if you take the car once a weekend, it doesn't add up to a lot of mileage/use.
How funny....the seller lives in my town....don't know him. Meanwhile, I bought the identical car, but mine is an '02.....STILL WAITING ON MY DELIVERY. I'll report to you all once It arrives.
If anyone wants me to take a peek at this car.....it can't be more than 5 minutes from me.
Best,
Jon
