Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi I was considering purchasing a C4S, but now realise an early 996 turbo is approx. the same cost. The Turbo seems the obvious choice but I'm not sure how the running costs compare to a C4S, can any one enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

POST 2Original post

Sorry, but I can't give you any info on either, but you might want to post this same question on the 996 Turbo Forum also.

POST 3Original post

Maintenance cost is a little higher but not that much more. For example, plug changes are every 30k instead of 50-60k on a NA car. So that'll probly set you back another $200 more every 2-3 yrs. I heard more MAF failure on TT because TT owners tend to have more mods including aftermarket intake. I think TT oil change is more often compared to the 15k mi on C4S which most owners do more often anyways. 996 TT will suck up a little more gas. If that's really not a concern that much, I'd go with TT. They are pretty reliable cars and you don't have to worry about RMS as much.

POST 4Original post

TT is basically bullet proof, as is the C4S, depends on what you want and how much you're willing to pay. Don't expect a primo TT and a C4S to be the same price, more like a higher mile TT/off warrranty vs a lower mile C4S with a remaining warranty. Either car is expensive to repair/maintain off warranty.
