Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I especially feel good about the clutch, which was used for more city type driving, but after driving the loaner Boxster that had 34k miles, my clutch feels light as a feather compared to that one!
Leading evidence: 'Use more city type driving' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean (as i hoped a low mileage car should be)' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The GOOD news is that the RMS looks good, and the rest of the car is very clean (as I hoped a low mileage car should be).

The big bucks for the repair come from the likely damage to header pipes, nuts and bolts etc.

Quote for repair from dealer was around $300 for the right and $600 something for the left.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Got word today that the right cam cover breather and the left cam cover were leaking. Quote for repair from dealer was around $300 for the right and $600 something for the left. Can someone enlighten me on this stuff? Should this be expected on a 99 with 11k miles?
Are you talking abou the Actuator Covers (solinoid valve)? These are the little covers that have a wire coming out of them and is installed in the cylinder head. There is one each bank? What is a cam cover breather?
Everyone is so concerned about the RMS. Reality is that there are a number of seals, many of which will leak over time no matter what your mileage is. Be prepared to shell out some cash...
Found out the left side is the cam cover, and it really isn't too bad, and the right side is the flange seal around the solenoid, and there was some "caked up oil" around it, but it wasn't too bad. I have not noticed any major oil loss. My inclination is to wait on it, since it's not life threatening, and worry about other things (like tires/wheels) first. The GOOD news is that the RMS looks good, and the rest of the car is very clean (as I hoped a low mileage car should be). I especially feel good about the clutch, which was used for more city type driving, but after driving the loaner Boxster that had 34k miles, my clutch feels light as a feather compared to that one! Thanks for the advice, and I am still open to any pointers on the oil leak stuff.
It s common for the Solinoid Valve covers to sweat oil. These are the little covers with a wire coming out of them on each bank. They are connected to the cylinder head with 2 bolts. I periodically snug the bolts up, but never have had more than sweating of oil that is easily wiped away. Even if these covers leaked considerable oil, it would not be a probelm for the engine other than having to put more oil in once in awhile. It would, however, probably make a mess of your garage and engine compartment.
Hear hear - I was wound up by the local OPC and told that it was a must do type job and two years later no appreciable worsening of the situation. The big bucks for the repair come from the likely damage to header pipes, nuts and bolts etc. which tend to corrode/seize up and I was advised to bite on the bullet and expect to have to pay about 1500 ($2K+) for the front half of the exhaust system and an unlimited number of helicoil inserts to retain the pipes to the cylinder heads...
