The PO had changed the radio for a JVC KD-332 which does not look the best but worked OK till I put in a CD which played a couple of tracks and then started jumping and missing parts.

Taking my 99 C4 convertible for its first drive this year yesterday, I was heading along a dual carriageway at about 3,000 rpm when I noticed that the oil pressure gauge was right at the stop above the 5 bar level whereas previously it had sat just on the five bar level at that speed and would fall away as soon as rpm fell to 2,500. Backing off yesterday, it did fall back a little but went straight up to the top when revs increased again to 3,000. Oil level correct and water temp fine. No sign of any problem when back in the garage. Am I just being paranoid? The PO had changed the radio for a JVC KD-332 which does not look the best but worked OK till I put in a CD which played a couple of tracks and then started jumping and missing parts. Same happened when I changed the CD. Instruction book says not to use the CD on rough roads. But that is what we have here in the UK. Is there an alternative 1 DIN unit that will not skip and jump when we go over a ridge or small pot hole? Hood was down and had the draught excluder fitted-- can I leave that on if I put the hood up? Anyt thoughts much appreciated. therwise it was a joy to use on a 100 mile warm up after a long dark and cold winter.

The oil pressure sender(s) are known to go bad� simple fix/replacement. CD�s are a mechanical read format - if it�s bouncing around, it�s going to skip� there�s not a whole lot you can do about that, except don�t use it on bumpy roads. Use mp3 or IPhone or whatever�

Many thanks - the gauge does seem to be behaving itself otherwise so I guess it is sender replacement at the next service.
