Even caught a mid season car blooper when they used a different car with different side mirrors.

I Must admit that I've gone on autotrader.con and researched used F360 and F430 cars in the last year.

Loved the side inlets when it came out as there wasn't really anything like it at that time which also took my mind off the NACA ducts used on the Countach's for awhile.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys, after nearly two years of Porsche ownership I traded my C4S in for a car my heart fluttered for each time I saw one on the road. Posters plastered on my wall growing up as a kid, drooling over Magnum P.I.'s and Sonny Crockett's cars while growing up. It's a 1990 Ferrari 348TB (hardtop) in Rosso Corsa Red over Tan. All records since day one, 30k service performed 400 miles ago.
I've had the car for nearly two weeks now, and I truly miss having the P-Car. I'm sure one day I will be picking up a 996.1 C2 down the road. The 996 forum is my favorite forum and you guys are the best group of guys hands down. It's been fun, I will be lurking back and forth between here and ferrarichat.com.
Anyone else here own an F-Car or is considering getting one?
A pic of me and the C4S the day I traded her in:
My new Italian high maintenance mistress:
From my first Ferrari Owners Group drive last weekend:
Oh my the 512 TR was one of the cars I had a poster of
. Here is one that was at the gathering last weekend. The 512 looks way better than the Testarossa IMO.
another Ferrari dreamer here.....but the $$$$ to maintain one "scared" me. was also set on the 348 and seriously lined up a few but decided to back off....for now
congrats!
P.S. because of your forum name, I was expecting a Lambo
Thanks kromdom! I hear ya, you def gotta have a financial plan buying one of these, and if you are a DIYer you can save a ton of money. There are lots of tutorials on ferrarichat.com and youtube to get you through step by step from changing clutches to replacing the timing belts.
If it's doubt that's keeping you from buying one...just remember, that doubt kills dreams and that you only live once
As far as my name LOL...it's been my SN since 2003, I used to ride Yamaha sportbikes and I had a Redbul Jacket with matching helmet so the SN was inspired by that
Wow congrats, I also grew up with a Ferrari and also a Porsche poster, it gives you a big sense of accomplish when you reach your dreams, buon amico, arrivederci!!!!
we will miss the pics with the models
I can hardly believe that you picked the Ferrari over that beautiful black Jaguar XK140 coupe next to it on the lot, or was that a Cars and Coffee meet? Ok if it was a 120 I understand.
Congrats. I missed the 348 train long time ago when they were at the bottom of the market so it's hard for me to swallow the inflation and get one.
Hope you find happiness in your new ride. Start saving up for that tuneup, lol.
Now if I can just scrape enoug for a Countach, I'd be set...
LOL appreciate it, yes 911's and F-Cars were my dream cars and it feels unreal to be able to achieve them. No worries, I wil continue to post model photos promise
Thanks Gulliver! That must have been awesome to own those both. The C4S is much faster and handles better...that is why Im sure I'll be getting another one
Thanks man! I've seriously wanting one of these since 2006, you're right they were in the 20's back then. I hear that the price of these and the F355's will be going up soon.
No joke about saving for the tune up
and I would cut off my left arm and one ear for a Countach
Congrats! I test drove a few F355's earlier this year and while I still want one, I just couldn't think of the money it would cost, especially after driving it. Just didn't seem to have much power.
But as I said.....I will probably own one some day, so I am jealous! But not of the mouse belts!
;-)
Enjoy!!!
LOL, thanks Paul Waterloo! Agreed the 348 does not pull me back like the C4S did which I dearly miss. It's an older car which I've accepted, but the overall experience makes up for it.
Congrats! Nice car. Enjoy it.
I bought my 996 as a stepping stone into an F-car (F-430) later. But now, I'm contemplating if it would be truly worth an extra $75K. If anyone has first hand experience, I'd love to hear it. I have driven an F-430 but only for a couple of laps and that's not the same as driving it around town.
I did all of the exhaust development for FS on the 348 - shoot me a pm if you're interested in talking about it. Here is a link to the thread with dyno plots.

Congrats! Beautiful car!!
I am not a Ferrari guy at all. But, I did drove my friend's 308 GTS and man... it sure was fun. Pure analog car (no power brakes, steering and such). Loved the engine roar from behind.
Enjoy the car in great health!!
Cheers,
-K
Thanks Rubik! I guess you can say I did the same buying the C4S in terms of a stepping stone. Was thinking of moving to a TT or 997, but when I realized the cost was pretty close to the F-Car, I embraced the opportunity.
The F430 is a beautiful car, I wouldn't mind moving up to one if the opportunity arises
Thanks Kalyan, much appreciated! Agreed, the 308, 328, Mondial and 348 are the last of the pure analog Ferrari's and the note of the engine purr is like no other.
Very nice ride! Congratulations!
I read an article in a car magazine (Automobile, Car & Driver, don't recall) about a car magazine journalist whose "dream car" had ALWAYS been a Countach. While doing a story on another classic super car that a guy had, he also saw a Countach in the garage and the owner was kind enough to let him drive it...
He wished he hadn't. It was underpowered, noisy, handled terribly, and just a general disappointment. The moral of the story was that sometimes it's better to let a dream stay a dream!
As someone who grew up in the early 80's, I was utterly crushed to read that!
I read a similar article in Automobile or Road & Track but the dream was a Testarossa. He was happy that he had driven it but he also admitted that he was certain he would never buy one now that he had driven it.
Thanks mharrision! The Countach will not doubt remain a dream, those cars sell for 400K plus
. When I test drove the 348, I had the same concern. I thought because of the age it would feel dated, under powered and obsolete. Although the car did not feel quite as fast as the C4S, it had ample power, go kart handling not to mention that distinct F-Car exhaust note that made it all so worth it.
RaginBull: I'm sure you've seen the video of the guy who did the twin turbo on the 348, as I recall it was a yellow one, maybe in Europe? Top notch modification, and you know the exhaust note on those cars are to die for!
Congrats! I told my F.Planner a few weeks ago, make sure I save some money for a Ferrari. My goal is by 28 to have a 360 but I love the lines of the late 80's early 90's, 348s, 355s, etc so it might be an earlier one. Enjoy it, she is a beauty .
Thanks william91! Agreed on the earlier 80's - 90's models which are the ones I fell in love with. The 360 is more refined but the curves just don't do it for me, however the Spider may be an option.
Good luck on the F-Car, when you get it...you will know that the wait and planning was well worth it!
Sweet ^^^
Still remember watching Miami Vice and when they "downgraded" from the Daytona to the Testarossa. Even caught a mid season car blooper when they used a different car with different side mirrors. (original had upper mirrors, mid season changed to lower mirrors). Loved the side inlets when it came out as there wasn't really anything like it at that time which also took my mind off the NACA ducts used on the Countach's for awhile. LOL
I'm sure you guys are familiar with Doug DeMuro's column - he's the guy with the Ferrari and the CarMax Range Rover but if you're not, enjoy:

I loved watching that show! Never saw the bloopers but watching that Daytona and the Testarossa was a huge inspiration. Now I just need to buy a white linen suit like Sonny Crocket
Haven't heard of him, but definitely came across this article when I was doing my due diligence prior to buying. With him putting the cost of ownership in perspective made it conceivable to own one
That is sorta skewed and giving a false impression to those that are not in the know. Let's just say starting with the 360 onward is when Ferrari's became a lot more reliable and able to drive places without worrying about breaking down.
The 348 is a great Ferrari. It solves the problems with the transverse engines by putting it in the right direction in the car. It should be as good a daily driver as a Porsche...and it shouldn't be any harder than a 911 to service it yourself...and it shouldn't be anymore expensive to service at a dealer or a private shop. Ferraris cost money and so do Porsches. I think the Ferrari shift gate is the best in the world...nothing feels as sexy. Performance wise, you bought an old car so its performance will be dated...just as is the case with old Porsches. I bought (years ago) a used 308 with 88k miles on it. I drove it as my daily driver for two-plus years and sold it with 124k miles on it...and for only $2k less than I bought it for. Its a totally different feel than a Porsche...not better or worse...just different. Use it well.
